The rear lock is malfunctioning. There is great play in the lock itself (no resistance .. no up or down position) and the only way to open the door is to hold the lock up on the inside and open or insert the key and twist it while opening door.
I have tried replacing the actuator .. (I picked up a used one)
Any other suggestions?

Does anyone know where I can find schematics of how the lock is hooked together? (Pictures would be best) I might have lost connection internally with the pieces parts.

Also what can I do to verify the actuator is working properly.. (My old one works like my new used one)

Thanks

I had a similar issue when I first purchased my disco. The mechanism siezed from lack of lubrication. Pop off the emblem from the rear (carefully with a knife) and use a penetrating oil (deep creap) followed with wd-40 to clean the mechanism. Then apply a quality white lithium grease (spray works well). I've had no more problems for going on 3 years. I hope this helps...

Your issue sounds like it is a bad lock actuator... you will need to replace it. The springs have gone bad. I have heard of one or two people that have rebuilt the springs, but I can't remember where I read about it. I know mine is bad, and plan to order a new one from Nathan at www.discountbritishparts.com as soon as it drives me insane from climbing over the back seat to open the door (or my kids get tired of doing it for me)

I had one sent (actuator) from will when I ordered the climate control cluster (which I installed yesterday and works perfect!)
It functions like the old one..There is movement when connected (springing action) but no set up or down locked positioning.. (not sure if that makes sense)
What else can I try?

If it locks or unlock when connected (but not connected to the linkage) then it maybe the linkage is locked up, if it doesn't even move then... there may be an issue with the used one, or you may have a wiring issue.... I think I may have a wiring diagram, but not sure.
