I broke the door speaker grill in my LR3. The dealer quoted me $300 dollars to replace it. ( $230 for part and $70 for labor. ) Does anyone know where I can get a speaker grill for a more reasonable price?

Regards,
Chris

I had mine replaced on my D1 a few years back. After trying to track down one from LR, I gave up and I just walked into a "metal speciality" shop. After chatting it up with the guys for a couple of minutes I told them my problem. They walked out to my car and looked at the pattern, and then duplicated it on black metal in about 10 minutes and charged me $25. You can't tell a lick of difference in looks, but the replacement was just a little bit thicker of a metal.

Just a suggestion...

Good tip, thanks.

The LR3 grill is plastic, and it looks like one solid molded piece for the grill and the entire rectangular speaker assembly. If anyone knows if *just* the grill can be removed and replaced, that'd be great. The don't have to match each other...just need a matching set that looks about the same!

We are interested in making service parts. We can have a look at it. I can't really tear apart our LR3.

How bad is your current grill? Some epoxy, a bit of carbon fiber strands for support, sanding, wetsand, airbrush finish it could possibly be repaired. We've done this with Porsche grills.
