I like it, the outer tubing on the LR3 sliders look quite a bit thicker than the ones on the
Rangie.

It is a bit larger diameter, but the same heavy duty sidewall thickness.

Don't hold your breath. I ordered them for my '08 over a month ago and got an e-mail on Monday that I should have a ship date by Tuesday. They didn't say which Tuesday (today is Thursday). The guys at Off Roveing have been good to work with and have made a real effort to keep me informed, but I want my danged sliders.

David

David, did you get your sliders yet ? If so, how was install ?

Got an e-mail a couple of weeks ago saying that they were scheduled to come out of the factory 4/4. With the threatened trucker strike I may see them before winter. OffRoving has worked hard to keep me updated and they seem pretty nice. I'll let you know how the install goes, I have a buddy with two floor jacks so we're going to do it in his 6 car garage.

That is the same ship date I was quoted. What's this you say about a trucker strike??
Maybe Mr. Woods can shine some light on this.

I had a (custom) slider job done over the weekend by an outfit down in Portland. I will post pics when I can and report on their effectiveness after I've tested them.

Long story short, they boxed in the current LR Sidesteps (with steel plate) and bolstered the brackets some to effectively turn my running boards into sliders. ...also had to remove the fasteners and drill holes so that they could be fastened from the top for future removal. In the end, the sidesteps look exactly the same from 10 feet away. If you get closer you see screws (6) on the top and underneath it has smooth steel plating.

They may not be super-strong or able to take the weight of the entire vehicle, but for what I do when I go off-road, they will do the job. At the very least they will protect the doors. If they don't survive that then I can go with another solution after that since these were relatively inexpensive.
