I feel pretty silly about this, but I have to correct or clarify something said on a previous post:

We were discussing how to park the LR3 and I really blew off comments as being sort of silly or perpetuating unnecessary discussion. However, I have to correct myself as I learned that there is something to this when I was at the LR Exper. Driving school this past weekend.
...and to close the book on this topic, the procedure I was taught was as-follows:
1. While in either "R" or "D" apply the parking brake-this clearly depends on what direction (fwd/backward) you're going when you go to park.
2. Shift to "N" - your foot should still be on the foot brake.
3. While in "N" remove your foot from the foot brake.
4. While still in "N" put your foot back on the foot brake.
5. Put the transmission in Park. Remove your foot from the foot brake. done.
Anyhow, I hope that this is informative and clears things up for people. It will get rid of that little "click" you hear when you shift sometimes. A parking brake is much easier to fix than a transmission.
By the way, applying the e-brake at 30 MPH or so is pretty cool !! You should all try it (while under warranty) just to feel it and make sure it works !
Again, sorry for dismissing this topic before.
Regards.
