starter burning

went to start my car today and got nothign but a click. the battery is not dead, and after a few starts i smelll a burning, i assume from the starter. anyone had this problem, i expect ill have to replace it but thought i would try to get some suggestions

Depending on Year, and mileage this can be normal. Also if it has ever been submerged in water.
