Suspension faults due to bad battery

Wanted to share this.

Had a couple of amber suspension faults a few weeks ago. They both happened while driving up a steep ramp out of an underground parking lot and switching from access mode to standard mode while moving up the ramp.

Got taken care of during this service visit. Work order reads that after running IDS diagnostics, battery disconnect code was found in the air suspension ECU. Battery had corrosion and it failed the their test. So they replaced the battery under warranty.

When my battery died last month (2005 White, SE), the starter wouldn't engage and the only message was "HDC Inactive". I was too freaked to stop and think that maybe it was just a battery so I called LR Roadside and they towed it to the dealer (180 miles), then towed it back. Great service (except that the guy that brought it back tied off to the outriggers that are right behind the wheels and pulled them 2 inches forward and engaged the tires).

Turns out to be a $1,000 battery replacement, the messages leave quite a bit to be desired.

It cost LR $1,000. Towing was over $400 each way, the rest was the battery. I'll probably mileage-out the warranty by January and the 2005 is going to magically become a 2008 about 500 miles before that happens.
