Update at 1500 miles.

Everything that this vehicle does, it does phenomenally well. It is solid, well-built - overengineered actually - and quiet. Luxurious with a masculine, purposeful feel.
I am absolutely blown away by the car.

Tramlining is when the tires follow grooves in the road. This is common on sport cars with ultra-high performance tires. Our LR3 would dart right and left with abandon. My brother-in law refused to drive it, as did my wife. Is there anything worse than your wife refusing to drive your 2 month old >$50K truck?

Rant: The toe was severly out of specification, with too much "toe-in" (pigeon-toed) both front and rear. The handling was dangerous, but they said the alignment was fine when I brought it in at 1.5K, but refused to give me a copy of the alignment sheet despite repeated demands:hmpf: They obvisouly lied about road testing it too. When I brought it in at 2.5K to replace the tires, which were now completely bald on the outer half, I was livid, as I was convinced something was wrong with the truck and they were incompent/not being forthright. I insisted they recheck the alignment, stating that either the frame was bent, something in the suspension broken or it had too much toe-in, upon which they confirmed the toe-in malady. They also accussed me of swapping old tires onto the truck too. I have never enjoyed filling-out a follow-up survey more.

This is the reason for taking it to a frame and alignment specialist first.. you can talk directly to a technician and get a print out with the results -- then take it to the dealer. It appears dealers in general make more effort avoiding repairs, then they do making repairs.

It's a sad state of affairs since dealers are the front line support for the manufacturer... which has long-term affects on future sales -- only if manufacturers knew how much business they're losing due to negative feedback on the internet.

In your situation, I would have gone directly to the top brass at the dealership... and depending on their attitude, advised them of the pending complaint being filed with the appropriate state agencies. I don't pull any punches when it comes to shotty service and ignorant service managers that don't have a clue how to sustain customer satisfaction.

here's our resources in California.

good feedback .. I wish the dealer service departments were as equally excited about enhancing customer satisfaction.

Now, I can buy "purposeful"... but the "masculine" part of your review is kind of subjective.

My girlfriend thinks they're more feminine looking ... especially the hind quarters. :stupid:

Masculine - as in Tom Brady not Jared Lorenzen (the hefty lefty) if you know football.

Yes, the GM and I are on a first name basis and I wrote a letter to LRNA with names, which resulted in the SM having to follow-up with me to "make things right". I'm giving you the condensed version. Needless to say, when I had proof that they were either lying/dishonest I was going "ballistic", and did everything in my power to make their life hell.

Patriot,

I completely agree that the LR3 is a very masculine SUV. We also have a GX470, which feels downright feminine in comparison. All the controls, steering, steering wheel, seats seem intended for a British farmer-I like it.
