Hello all, I might have posted something about this earlier but I could not find it in the search. So please forgive me for starting a new post for this.

When I bought the tow hitch receiver, after attaching it to the truck and then mounting the my LR bike rack on it, i noticed there was a little play (not in between the bike rack and the receiver) but rather the play is in between the receiver and the chassis whole where the receiver goes in. I carefully examined this by making sure that the bike rack was tightly attached to the receiver and that there was no play in between the bike rack and the receiver. I could easily see the tow hitch receiver itself moving when I would move the bike rack lightly back and forth (without exerting any heavy force at all).

The dealership replaced the tow hitch receiver with a new one but that did not solve the problem at all and they play was still there. I was moving at the time so did not have a chance to look into it further at the time. Recently I noticed that the play has increased and this is without any trailer towing at all, just a bike rack being used with one mountain bike. So I brought the LR3 in for check up and they diagnosed that everything was normal. At the time I was there to drop my LR3, both I and my service advisor (who is really a nice guy and very helpful) looked at another LR3 parked at the dealership which had a bigger and wider (non-LR bike rack installed) with the same one LR tow hitch receiver as mine. And we both tried shaking it to see if there was an play at all and sure there was none.

My service advisor suggested that I should call LR which i did and then LR talked to the dealership and then my service advisor called me and asked me to bring my car in again for inspection with the shop forman and the head tech there, etc. So i did that day before yesterday and yesterday I got a call from my advisor that they have concluded that there is nothing wrong with it. Today I am going to see them and will try demo it to them again on another LR3 to check if the play is on it or not (probably using my tow hitch receiver and a new receiver as well)

Has anyone else seen or observed this is at all. Not sure what to make of it.

Thanks very much for your replies.
