Just bought a 1999 Disco II with 94500 miles. The red transmission temp. warning light(upper right corner on dash) has been on for about two months according to the guy I bought it from. He told me the light came on about two months ago. There no indications that the trans. is running hot, fluid levels are OK. Any thoughts on this guys? This is a Series II

First, you know the levels are okay because? Did you acually get under the vehicle and check the level?

Could be a temp sensor, could be clogged cooler lines, could be a clogged filter.

I have a 2000 Disco II. The transmission warning light started coming on intermittently. I took it in to have them change the fluid and they said the fluid was clean and not low. Does anyone have an idea what it might be? I have also had experiences with the "3 Amigos" coming on from time to time. None of this warnings lights seem to be affecting the way the truck is running

That light will come on for either the tranny or t/case overheating and or the sensor has failed

tranny light goes on when stopped in traffic too long

I have a 2000 disco II. When I am stopped in traffic too long the tranny light goes on. I had the trans fluid checked. They said it was clean. A friend suggested that maybe it was getting hot and that maybe I needed a cooler. I searched a landrover parts distributor and found a "Sender Oil Cooler Temperature Transmission". Has anyone ever had this problem used the part listed above

Both of you need to verify the ATF and t/case level are fresh fluid cause either will cause that light to come on.
If you want help with this, PM me your number and I'll call you and walk you thru what to do.
Do not drive if the over heat light comes on or you can cause damage tp either the t/case or tranny.
