transmission not engaging

Hello, I'm new to the forum. I have pulled the engine in my 02 disco and put a freshened up one in. The car sat for about 2 to 3 months without the battery hooked up. Now that I've got the engine in and running the transmission will not engage. Anyone know what could have happened? I didn't remove the transmission.

First welcome to the forum... second, to ask the stupid question... Does the transmission have fluid in it and was it working before you changed the engine?

Yes it does have fluid in it. Yes it was working before pulled and installed the new engine. I do rotate the T/C to line up the blot holes.

Assuming you lined everything thing up correctly and plugged in all the electricals, there shouldn't be anything to keep the transmission from working.
