I do agree that it seems somewhat ridiculous to have switched over to the SCV6 but I'm sure it will do great.
As far as displacement, being from Europe where in my youth a 2.5l was a really big engine (most car were around 1.4l and sporty hatchback around 1.8/2.0) and most trucks have small displacement Diesel engine, I'm not too worried about the engine size
You should see what people tow around Europe with tiny city cars without ever having a problem. Also the Defender has a tiny engine and does great overall.
In any case, I love my big V8. It's my first one and I admit to be a little addicted to it
