I've got an X reg V8 3.9ltr Disco 2, for the last year the engine has occasionally stalled, sometimes at low revs, often in reverse and even on motorways (though it seems to bump start again). Starting with the easy bits : Plug change, new HT leads (great place to mount the coils behind the engine !!!) and all seemed good for a month or 2 them back worse than ever. looked at all the different reasons on different forums but gut feeling is its something electrical and diagnostics pointed towards 'fuse 2' circuit failure.
Read somewhere main fuse box terminals can oxide up due to proximity to coolant tank so stripped fuse box (Im a sparkie by trade), cleaned all contacts, rebuilt and hey **, no stalling.....for a couple of days. Thinking logically, if not the fuse box then the only other thing I did was disconnect the battery. Disconnected battery again for 10 minutes, reconnected and stalling went again for a while.
My question: Are Discos prone to PCB/ECU problems as this to me sounds like a failing component on a control board?
Read of similar stalling problems around the web with no solutions confirmed, welcome any thoughts or if anybody has the same fault try disconnecting the power for 10 mins and let me know the result.
If it is a PCB fault, which one and were is it !!!!!!
