Had a Nissan Pathfinder, and decided everytime I kept seeing a land rover, I loved it more than the Pathfinder. Used it to go off roading to go camping or just sight seeing. Just purchased the LR3 2006: Question about the high profile though. I don't necessarily go through too much rough terrain, but how does the LR respond when on rough terrain with it being a bit more high profile than the pathfinder. Also, would like to put a rack on top, any suggestions? I'd like to put some lights on, but not go over board, also thinking I need to put on different wheels (size), so pics or suggestions are welcome! Thanks!

I'm not sure I understand your question. Are you asking how the LR3 does on off-camber terrain considering a potentially higher CG? ...due to its tall body?

So then I will attempt to answer. I don't think it impacts it enough to bat an eye. The real weight is down low in the frame. I think that your psyche will chicken out before the LR3 even flinches at an off-camber. If you've ever been on a 35-degree sideslope, it is nerve-wracking (for me at least). The LR3 is stated to have its limit there, but that's only for oil-delivery and such. CG-wise I think it can get up to 45 degrees and not flop. I've never been at 45 degrees and wouldn't want to.

Bottom line, I wouldn't worry about the tall profile.

I have been on a 35-degree sideslope, and it is so nerve wracking, exhilirating though, but not sure I want to try it with the LR3, as you stated, my psyche will cause me to chicken out.

Never going to try 45 degrees. Going to take it to a sand dunes place in Arizona, that way if it flops, I'm in the sand... lots of desgrees of slideslopes there that are cause for anxiety, but that is a bit what we are looking for I suppose... ;)

I'm assuming I should keep asking about wheels, rack, etc., in the forum to try and get more replies? I thought I would have rec'd more information or suggestions by now. I think I may have found some wheels, so will want to be selling the ones I have now which are 19", can I do this on here?

rvrlvr: First, welcome. Second, try a search for what you are looking for and post questions on the threads that already exist, there are plenty of em with very helpful information. I think people are hesitant to reply to yet another thread that re hashes tires and racks.
And yes, you can sell your rims in the classifieds section.
Cheers!

Welcome!

Are you sure you have 19" rims? The picture under your name looks like the 5 spoke 18" rims.

See here for some good tire info and all around LR3 stuff. lots of great photos with LR3's and different option in the gallery.

There is a course at the dealer where we bought our LR3. They took us on a 37.5* side slope and I was a little spooked. This coming from someone who wheels a dedicated rig pretty hard. I am not sure I would even take said rig on this side slope for fear of flopping, again. So take confidence in that if you never found that limit in your pathfinder, you won't with the LR3 either.
