will bad timing chain guides **** the engine?

spoke to a dad at my kids soccer game - they have 2 2010 LR4s, each with 175k miles. hasnt had to do a timing chain on either but said the water pump every couple years is driving him crazy on both cars.


The design has changed a bunch of times. Make sure when doing a pump you are not getting old stock. I learned my lesson on this when my replacement lasted only 5000 miles. The new replacement has been solid. Fortunately replacing the pump is not a huge job and even 90% of the coolant can be retained.
