Considering the low miles I plan on putting on my LR4, I may well just self insure. I'd be shocked if I even put 10k miles year. By the time I hit 7 years I may well have only 60k miles.
I am in the same situation. Though things may change, I will only be putting 5,000-7,000 miles a year on my LR4, so the five years will likely kick in before the 50,000 mile mark.

Even so, I just can't seem to get an extended warranty out of my head - just in case.

I really like the plan lexman34 posted above, seems very comprehensive. He was quoted $4,500 for the highest package for 3 years, but I would imagine if you get it very early it will be a lot cheaper. Maybe?

I asked the same question but unfortunately no it will not be any cheaper. It is $4,500 for 3 years. The guy was very informative with the info and concretely stated it is more of a value when your present warranty run out as i wanted to lock in the rate TODAY for fear of it going up next year...which i am sure it will. His name is Mike Daniels. 888-227-9229. I have been looking at these types of warranties everywhere for over a year and this one has climbed to the top of my list. This company deals with high end vehicles as their main focus. That is good to know. The deductible if i did not mention is $500 on that plan and if you go with a plan that is close to $6,000 and the deductible i believe was in the $200-$300 range. REGARDLESS...i shiver to think anything break down in my beast after the warranty ends. Landrover Dealerships are B.O.A.T.S....break out another THOUSAND! Also i plan to go over the contract with a fine tooth comb on what is not covered and also look for reviews and feedback from the BBB.

The only thing I don't like about what you describe is the $500 deductible. That seems awfully high. I have a similar extended warranty quote, that I may act on, and its deductible is $100 (overally price is $4340 for a 7/100K).

Can you negotiate that deductible?

I do not disagree with you. When he told me $500 i told him that is really high and then he shot me the salesman speech of the avg repair cost of a LR in the shop and regardless it is cheaper. He may be right but STILL this is a VERY high ded. Question...your warranty offer, did i miss that but what is the requirement of the vehicles? 7yrs/100K for $4,340 is a really good deal. We can play double dutch with quotes all day but what really matters is what is exclusive in the warranty. These aftermarket warranties have to be looked over very closely and do the research of what usually goes in these beasts and what is the most expensive items that are covered.

Thanks so much! This helps a lot, as I can see locking in for price increases, but if it's not that much, then I may just wait a year or two and then act on a warranty for later.

I am also curious about the deductable.

I think this is that CNA one through the Land Rover dealership?

GBRover posted this in another thread:

"Regarding the warranty... I bought one through my LR dealer for $3800. It is a CNA product, bumper to bumper which will cover me to 85K or another 3yrs. Bought the vehicle in Feb 2011 and have just about 47,000 miles on it. Warranty should get me into the new model design for LR4 and/or evaluate the new RRS design."

He just purchased it yesterday he wrote. This is the same warranty that was offered to me when I bought my LR4 in June, but I believe the price was cheaper. I have the brochure at home and there are various levels, with the premier one seeming extremely comprehensive. It is through CNA.

Thank you. One thing we ALL agree on...we WANT an aftermarket warranty. LOL

I think $4-5K pays for a lot of post-warranty work except for something catastrophic.

What is going to break in a low mileage car in years 5 and 6 that hasn't already broken after 4 years?

I think I rather self-insure and maybe pick up a limited warranty covering major drive train issues.
