2013 Discovery 4 (will not accept American nomenclature... especially now that its the Discovery 5). The unmatched and unbeatable rig for the Rocky Mountains.

unfortunately, we didn't actually harvest any elk this year, but the Disco 4 was ready to haul it in.

Great to see a Rover being used as a hunting rig in the rockies! I've heard the elk hunting has been pretty tough this year so far.

on the second season first morning in Carbondale, we saw 3 bulls... the bad news was that we were 980 yards away. Tried to get closer, but they were gone. in 6 days, we saw nothing else at all.

Now that is a more proper backdrop! Just out of curiosity, does anyone have experience painting the grill and side vents? I would love to black mine out without having to spend $700+ buying all new ones, if I even can find them.

2 cans of Rustoleum Flexidip for all 3. I taped around the front grill so that i have a section of black all around the front of the grill of about 3/4". That meant i didn't have to do a ton of taping.

1. clean very well
2. tape off - on the side vents, i just taped off around the side vents and shot the stuff up into the intakes. no big deal. I took the grill off and set on newspaper.
3. go over the item twice slowly, be sure to shoot under and over the grill at high angles to get above and below the grill.
4. wait 5 minutes
5. go to step 3 at least 6-8 times. yes. 6-8 thin coats. I'd to 10 coats of once-over only if i was to do it again.
6. pull off the tape the second you're done with the last coat - do not let it harden!!!!! it will cause the stuff to just tear off.

I did only 5 times on the first side vent because i was getting impatient and i didn't take the tape of while it was wet. It was a mess. I have to do that one again. The other has held up very well.

Basically. Had 4 very large coolers in the back and game bags in the pack ready to go.

Its been just too darn hot for the elk to come down....
so basically, i got a wonderful time in the most beautiful mountains in the world. Not exactly a failure.

It totally has been too hot. We were supposed to get snow in Telluride two nights ago, but instead got a frosting on top of the mountains. At least we've been able to squeeze in some last minute hiking though, in freaking November!
