06 LR3 sun visor just sagged

This is kind of a weak first post but here goes. My driver's side sun visor just made kind of a popping noise when lowering it and now it won't stay up and sags about halfway.

Does anyone know what is inside the arm? Looks easy enough to remove and seems pretty easy to find a replacement but can I fix the one that's there?

Do I risk messing up the headliner taking off the old one?

Take it off and have a look at it - remember if you have a lighted mirror to unplug it
