I've replaced the front windshield once due to a rock on the interstate (HSE-heated, rain sensor, about $750 installed). Yesterday, I heard a CRACK and thought for sure my side passenger window was blown out but when I examined it, I found only a tiny chip which I'll just keep an eye on for now as it's not very noticeable.....

If the chip is smaller than a quarter, there are some companies that can repair it. Its high tech and in many cases, you cant even tell the chip was there. Pretty cool technology

Neytas2000,

Thanks! I'll see what they can do as I do worry about the chip turning into a crack. I'm beginning to think that the LR3 is a magnet for rocks! Just bad luck, I guess. I have put over 10,000 miles on it so it could be the law of averages as well!

Bought 3/15/2005 - 9,600 miles - had one chip repaired at 7,500 miles - missed another one that was there and just recently got a third.

Have not had a chip in probably five years - BMW and Volkswagen.

Kind of strange to have three in 9600 miles

I doubt your BMW or Volkswagen had the aerodynamics of a box on wheels. :)
