Howdy from NE Ohio. Just got a 2002 LR Disco with 80,000 miles, It has been well maintained. I would like to start to use synthetic oils in the trans and engine. What are your por’s or con’s on using synthetic oil. I use it in all my other cars

Thanks, I know I’ll have more question.

Dont Put Synthetic Oil In Disco 1

Don't Put Synthetic Oil In Disco 1 It Will Leak Because It Does Not Have The Proper Agents In It That Swell The Seals Like High Mileage Oil Does Instead It Will Shrink The Seals And Cause Heavy Leakage!! Hope This Helps

Not issues with Synthetics in either a D1 or D2... I have been running Synthetic in my D1 for the last 10 years without issues.

I've been using Synthetic for the last 30K miles. It loves Castrol Edge 5w30. No leaks at all.

I change oil, diff oil, transfer case oil so often (every 2500 miles in some cases) that sythetic is a waste due to water intrusion and hard offroad miles. Daily driver LR3 is a different story - all synthetics.
