I vaguely recall reading a similar story from a guy in one of the Middle Eastern countries. He was out in the desert cresting a dune and the airbags went off. I'm not sure which forum it was on or what the outcome was. I'll have to do some digging around tomorrow.

well, i took it in, dealer said it might take up to three months to check , between here and the UK to send the "Black Box DATA" as the egyptian rep explained....he told me to just get the police report and let insurance pay up.
He hinted at a sweet price....15,000 DOLLARS after some discount!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

now i checked the cost, all deployed airbags, 8 of them, with the srs module would cost 1200 $ fitting them labour charge would cost around 2000 $ with seat stitching etc....
3200$......why the hell would a stealer quote 15 000 K when i had bought the car for 20 k nearly....

anyways, i got the police report and i filled up my insurance claim and am taking it to the authorized insurance repair shop for them to do it....
Dealer says if they dont do it right or fix all connections and sensors properly i would tell them and they would be forced to bring it to the dealer ...and pay up...

this is gonna be a long one....

oh, one more thing, the rep secretly mentioned to me that this was NOT the first time it happens and they have had a few LR3's and a few RR's that did the same thing before.....he even told me about something that happened today in the morning when the general director, with a ford F150 raptor was coming in the garage back entrance and just lost control of the car, hit the barrier, went thru it and ended up where they do the car wash.....20 meter trail....
accelerator got stuck or something...

weird **** with this company.....

OK, per this picture I found on line, must be you, I know why your bags blew, time to fess up!!!
Just kidding, but I did have many conversations with an LR3 owner in Egypt, I believe, that had the same thing happen, it was decided that static caused his to blow and last I heard, Rover wouldn't cover it and either would his insurance, each blaming the other.
Good luck with the dealer buty don't give any more information to them then necessary cause those bags are way, way tooooo expensive.
Let us know how it goes.
