Mine squeal with each and every stop from about 15 mpg. Going in for service today. When I called he was already insisting I will have to replace them. He said I'm way over the norm as they typically are replaced between 17-25k My light is not on so we will see, (LR Dallas)

They squeal in reverse from time to time. I'm hoping they do the TSB. I only have 24k on the clock. Guess I need to look that up.

We shall see.

I'll weigh in..

We have a 2011 LR4 Metropolis purchased new in May 2011. It now has 65k on odometer, and is our workhorse... It's been a tank as well (no issues).

I have YET to replace ANY of the rotors, and did a full brake pad replace at roughly 40k miles. I have a lift and do my own work, and the rotors are still within tolerance judging by my trusty micrometer. Total cost for those brake pads at 40k via my local dealer was $330.

Just did a tire rotation, and the brake pads look good.

I tell you this story i DO believe you and i hope you believe me. I own a 2010 purchased new, one of the first off the line of the new LR4's in Nov 2009. I currently have 38,500 miles. Check this out:

1st Brake job 8/24/10 (Front & Rear)-11,495 Miles
2nd Brake job 6/29/11 (Rear)-20,387 Miles
3rd Brake job 10/18/11 (Front)-23,660
4th Brake Serv 8/3/12 (Rear)-31,778
5th Brake Serv 10/24/12 (Front)-33,802

As you can see i am servicing my brakes every 10 months or so. Personally i believe Landrover saw this trend as my fellow members on this forum i am sure gave the dealership hell as i did about this and i believe they have dealt somewhat with this issue with models 2011 and up. I have watched the forums very closely and i see more brake complaints in the earlier years than the later years.

I started out letting a local shop do my brake jobs to save $100 in labor but now i just go get robbed at the dealership as it is more convenient for me in my schedule as one is located less than 30 min from my office. My driving patterns is 75% city (NYC) and 25% Highway and no, i do not drive it like it is a Jaguar. This thing is just bad with brakes. Don't want to even start a topic about the MPH. However, I am not complaining because otherwise I LOVE the vehicle! :adore:

I believe you! I'm just trying to figure out why??? The weight of the cars across those model years has not changed, and I think they all have the same calipers and brake pad compounds. I could be wrong though...

I'm not generally a conspiracy theorist, but I did have a local BMW dealer tell me at 10k miles on my new car that it needed new pads & rotors all around. From memory, cost was $800. I got on the Bimmer forums and found min brake pad & rotor tolerances. Turns out it was a complete sham. I still had plenty of life in my pads, and the rotors were still within tolerance. Makes sense though - the dealer only makes money if they can find a problem...How many customers will actually call them on it?

MPG is another story. I get 16, wife gets 18... This is one reason I am looking forward to the V6 Turbo that launch next fall!

TSB COMPLETE

Got her back tonight. So far so good all is quite upon braking forward and reverse. Forward was much more annoying each and every stop was full of noise..

have a great weekend everyone!!

ohhhh and I had full black side moldings added....

My shipment from eBay arrived today with my full set mud flaps (66 bucks delivered, dealer wanted 210) Next on list full roof rails.. Dealer wants 700+.. but I'll keep looking.

And the service guy made the comment - "This is a 6000lb vehicle with sports car suspension and brakes"

Well he got the first part correct in my opinion...

I got an offer from the dealer to do brakes on my last service. I declined the offer since the brake light had not turned on. It will be in for the next service (new owner will take it) in a couple of months and still no brake light.

That sucks that you have had so much brake work completed in such a short period of time. I also own a 2010 and now have 40k. I had to replace the rotors and brake pads at 32k. I drive 70city/30highway mix too. Maybe I've been lucky with my pads and rotors because I would be ****** if I had to do as much work as you in the 3 years of ownership.

Hopefully, LR can address make the newer pads and rotors more durable and last longer.
