Manual/Auto Transmission Mode

When I change the transmission from automatic to Manual/Auto it lights up virtually every warning light on the dash.

Sounds like an electrical short somewhere. If you remove the center floor console there are several electrical connectors underneath. Check them for any signs of corrosion. Did you have any kind of spill or water ingress lately? Even clogged sunroof drains can lead to enough drips working their way down into the harnesses under the console and cause all kinds of funky gremlins.

This does sound like a electrical short happening. Have you a Sun Roof in your Discovery. Check your front floor foot wells and see if there is water under the carpets. Discoverys 3s are know for water leaking from perished sun roof drain pipes leaking down onto the inner fuse box and the wiring connectors. I’ve just repaired a front Drivers side sun roof drain pipe and had to take nearly 3cms of water from the footwell. I started getting problems when the water was shorting out the cables. Took nearly a week to get rid of all the water.
