I’m off today so I have some time to type a little write up for you guys.

Here are full details in case anyone else wants more info on the wheels.

I hope this information can gain interest in them. My work gave me a good deal so I can be the guinea pig and find out what needs to be adjusted.

I love the look of these wheels with AT’s and I hope the Land Rover community likes them as well. Seems like most people go with Compomotive's 6 spoke wheel. I don't like the convex look of Compomotives and wanted a slight concave face and in a classics 5 spoke design.

The wheels are offered in
18" x 8.5" | 18" x 9.5" | 18" x 10.5"
for AT tires.

Also offered in 20” which would look cool with street / performance suv tires;
20" x 9" | 20" x 10" | 20" x 11" | 20" x 12"

I went with the 8.5" all around and Et +39.

Flow Form Technology. Not heat treated aluminum a.k.a. cast.

Bolt patterns are not drilled to begin with and come blank. They're drilled to order. LR3's/4's are 5 x 120.

You will have to use aftermarket lug nuts. Either conical or ball seated. You must request for what you want drilled. I found that conical seated lug nuts are more readily available. I went with Sick Speed extended lugs with black end caps.

Center bores are drilled to what ever center bore your car needs. So you don't have to use hub centric rings. Land Rovers are 72.6mm.

The same goes for the offsets. They get shaved down to what ever offset you want. The lowest is +15.

With the specs that I chose, I had to shave about 2mm's towards the back of the front calipers. Only where the little fins are. It was super easy and took a few minutes with a grinder and I sprayed high temp matte black caliper paint to protect the areas. I think if I would have asked for the wheels to be 10-15mm's more aggressive, they might have cleared without grinding. Because the inner side of the barrels on the wheels flare outward and I would have gained more clearance.

These are the first and only set made for a Land Rover so far. So there is room for improvement if you’re willing to poke the wheels out about a half an inch more than mine. That’s the cool thing about these wheels. You can order them how ever you want.

The wheels are $1470 a set, currently on sale and come with brushed aluminum centers & high polished lips out the box. Regular price $1960. For an extra $200 you can have them powder coated any color you want. I went with gloss black. I chose gloss so they don't look like every other matte black wheel that's off-the-shelf.

Currently the only dealer for these wheels in the Land Rover community is Abran & Aleth at Carrs 4x4. They can have them drop-shipped directly to you. West coast shipping $200, central $250 and east $300 for a set.

Since the wheels are customized, turn around time is about 3-4 weeks before shipping.

I hope everyone has a great day and if I can help anyone out with questions about the car, I'm more than happy to.

The wheel looks totally sweet but it will be easily shredded in in tough rocky situations. That lip and the cosmetic 2nd lip are thin and in areas prone to the most abuse on roots and rocks. The fake beadlock area will just fill up with mud or snow making for screwed up balance once back on the highway.

Also LR wheels are actually designed with an inside bead edge to hold the tire better in low psi uses. This is not a feature most basic wheels are designed with because it is never needed on them.

Sorry to be a downer because it's cool to see someone try a new thing but there are reasons why the Compomotives are designed a certain way as well as the factory 18's. The offset and width is also no help in the large tire clearance arena with both dimensions only making matters worse and limiting tire size by setting outer edge further and inner edge too close for the wider choices.

A truly game changing wheel would be a 16 but even 17's open up more tire size choices.

Hi everyone,
My wife and I just became owners of this 2012 LR4 (79k miles). We have always wanted one and now we are in a place where we can not only buy one but also maintain one (in case something goes wrong). I am slowly making my way through all these forums, but is there anything that I should really look out for with the LR4? We did a pre-purchase inspection and everything checked out according to a Land Rover dealership.

Thanks for all your help!

The biggest thing I’ve heard about it on some the coolant Y pipe or crossover has failed oddly prematurely so it could be a fairly cheap but serious prevention to replace now.

Could also check how long it’s been if at all for the trans and differential fluids to be flushed. Many dealers will quite some super long interval but from what I’ve gathered, these could really help in the long run. My lr3 is hitting 144k this month.

Prevention on all my rovers has kept them all off the flatbed ride....

Congrats on the LR4. As you make your way through the LR4 forum section, look for these keywords:

Lower control arms (LCA)
Brake switch
Hood latch assembly
Timing chain/tensioner/guides
Crossover pipe
Water pump
Oil change interval/DIY oil change (forum consensus is to change oil every 5k - 7.5k miles)
Trans/diff fluid service (as mentioned by @jwest, and you are at the sweet spot for that service)
Brakes/tires (due to weight of LR4 your consumption rate of these may surprise you depending on your driving style)
Batteries
Battery reset (for diagnostic purposes)
Power window reset
Etc.

You can drive yourself crazy if you dive down the rabbit hole of potential issues but there's a reason owners love their LR4s. They are a blast to own and drive for most of us if you are sensible and go in with your eyes open (as you seem to be doing). All part of the Land Rover experience. Enjoy!
