New Owner in DC - 2013 LR4

Hey all,

After much searching and deliberation, I am picking up a 2013 LR4 HSE tomorrow. Really excited about it, will be my first Land Rover. I've owned Audis and BMWs before and can do DIY maintenance, so the complexity doesn't worry me(I don't think). It will be replacing an 08 Nissan Pathfinder V8, which, while a great truck, felt like a cheap pickup truck in comparison. This LR4 is a Nara Bronze/tan, has 70.5k on it and is still under the extended warranty(CPO) until March. Planning on lightly modding it, maybe rear tire carrier or bumpers, roof rails, etc. Anyway, looking forward to joining the ranks. I am in DC so any local LR clubs or meetups, let me know.

Brought it home last night, truck drives great. Slight shimmy at 55-65mph, most likely needs an alignment and tires balanced. When cold, it's giving me a low coolant level warning along with the red triangle, so have to top it off and see what's what. I'm thinking the water pump issue would not present itself on a 2013? Anyway, here's a picture late last night in my garage.

Some initial thoughts after a 35 mile drive home:
-Drives like a giant bank vault and feels very tight
-Great power from the 5L V8. Transmission shifts great
-Infotainment system is a joke. Feels very old, clunky and counter-intuitive. And this is after the supposed upgrade that 2013s got, to make it faster. Doesn't matter, as long as it works.
-Interior is gorgeous. Great materials. Feels very high quality.
-Loving the large greenhouse feel, visibility is fantastic.


Pumped to join the club and looking forward to posting more.

Nice looking rover. As far as coolant goes, my 2013 Jaguar had its water pump go bad at 45k miles so it can happen. Adding the pic of your Rover so others can see it easier.

So I got to know the truck a bit better over the weekend and I have to say, I absolutely love it. It feels solid and heavy and is very easy to drive. Has this calming, oozing presence, it's a relaxation chamber on wheels. I also dug through the glovebox and found the original window sticker. As it turns out, this thing has the HD package with the lockable rear diff and full size spare! Had no idea, and I know this is a desireable option. Looking forward to trying it off road soon!

Very nice. Yes the lockable rear diff is a huge bonus.
