Dented hood with elbow by accident.

Hey everyone, i was closing my hood after topping off the windshield washer fluid. I closed the hood, but the driver side part didn't latch properly so i elbowed it down which was pretty stupid. Now i have a 2 inch dent/crease that is noticeable when looking at the paint from the side. I tried pushing it out from inside but its in an area where i have no access to the sheet metal inside the hood to tap it out from the inside. My only two options is to leave it be because it's really a small dent and not worth it for a body shop to repair, or try one of those dent puller glue kits on Amazon. Has anyone tried any of those kits? Apparently all you do is hot glue a piece of plastic to the area that's dented in right onto the paint. Then wait a few minutes until it bonds to the paint. Then you basically attach the slide hammer tool and pull the dent out. The glue comes off easily with a few spritz of rubbing alcohol and no damage is done to the paint.

Ill post pics of the dent tomorrow as its pretty dark out now and even with my iPhone camera flash you can't really see the dent that well. It looks horrible when looking at it from different angles. Below is the dent kit i was talking about.

I’d say you have very little to lose by trying the paintless dent puller device. Some of them can be had for under $20. Just make sure you get the black glue sticks and not the yellow. I read that the adhesion characteristics of the black glue are better suited to dent pulling than the yellow.

Heat it up with a heat gun and see it it just pops back. Unless you really stretched the metal it might go back to the original place

I have a PDR (Paintless Dent Repair) guy in my area that is a Wizard. He has gotten out 5 dents and they are ERADICATED.

It's cheap and quick....I've seen him use glue tabs but the preferred method is from behind the deflection. You might think access is difficult but a PDR person might have a trick. They could also drill a small access hole.

Those people are amazing. Wife had an accord that I was sure would be totaledby hail damage, dang pdr guy had it smooth as glass in one day.

Interesting points everyone. I think ill purchase the kit since its so cheap on amazon. If it doesn't work then ill have a dent repair guy take a crack at it.

I had something similar on the pillar of the trunk door. No access whatsoever to push from inside unless I took the interior apart. I went to the local body shop and they fixed it while I waited in about 15 minutes. $150.00 in my area. It looks like it never happened. I had tried one those self repair kits on another car once and it left mark on the paint that was worse than the dent. I would leave it to a professional that knows their trade.

So everyone, i decided to be a cheap ass and buy the $39 kit on amazon. The glue pulled off pieces of the paint on the hood of the rover. The dent did not move at all. Maybe it’s just my experience, but i do not recommend a dent puller kit off of amazon. I had a dent puller dude i found off of yelp in Queens NY to fix the dent as if it never even happened. I spent $86 and it was worth every single penny. He tapped it out after 45 mins with his dent puller tools and heat gun. Don’t take the cheap way out and hope for the best. Spend the little bit more and get the 100% results.
