Hi All,

I'm now the owner of a new to me 2013 LR4 HSE LUX. Fuji white with Arabica leather and almond carpet. 82k miles. Purchased for $22k. It was a one owner car that was serviced at the same dealership (where I bought it) for the life of the car. No HD pack but my use will mostly road oriented with the exception of some oversand beach driving in the summer.

This LR4 replaces a 2017 Chevy Colorado ZR2 which was getting too small for my growing family. It's a third car so I figured I could go a bit off the beaten path.

When I was signing the papers today I was presented with the option to buy a fairly comprehensive third party warrantee for $2500. 3 years/36k miles. I will hit the 3 years first. This is my first LR so I went for it. I figured the piece of mind was worth it. I typically never buy warrantees so this is new for me. Perhaps I read too many Doug Demuro articles.

Anyhow, I wanted to say thank you. I learned a ton about the vehicle here before and while conducting my search. I hope to be an active member going forward.

Bill

PS. Forgive my spelling of WARRANTY

Welcome. Not sure what your other 2 vehicles are but I bet you'll find yourself grabbing the LR keys more often than not. Its a fun vehicle to drive, solid!

Welcome Bill! You will be fine without the HD pack in sand. One of our LR4's has the HD pack and the other does not. Actually got the one with the rear locker stuck in sand when we lost momentum going uphill because the truck in front of us bogged down. If stuck, remember to air down to about 18 psi and you can probably drive right out like we did.

Would love to know the source of that 3rd party warranty. My dealer wouldn't budge on the price for mine (wanted nearly $4500) and mine was a 13 with 25k miles.

Walk in with a check written out in the amount you wish to pay, has to be a fair amount. Put it down in front of the manager and say, "Here, take it or leave it!"

Thanks for the warm welcome!

Just got back from a long drive with my kids. They are still crazy but the ride quality is serene.

To the question above, the warranty I purchased was offered by CornerStone United. They call the product "Xtended Auto". I admit to not doing a ton of research. Like I said, I usually never buy warttanties but the price seemed right and the finance manager at the dealership (who genuinely seemed like a good guy) said they have been having a good experience w/ the company. This is my first third party warranty; with any luck, perhaps I'll never have the occasion of using it.

Just being realistic here, but you will more than likely use the warranty coverage and be glad you bought it. It's just part of LR ownership and given your mileage you'll be statistically in line for some work. It's great that you have full service records and know the history of your ride. In the meantime, enjoy your new ride. I'm on my second LR4 and both have been favorites compared to all the other various vehicles I've driven and owned. Welcome!

Hello all, I called Cornerstone and they only manage the warranty, they do not sell direct. The policy must be purchased through a dealer.
