LR4 -> Defender anyone?

I wish. For some reason there was very little LR inventory that year. The new 2008 LR3 HSE with a rear locker we bought was trucked-in from another dealer 100 miles away. And it showed up with a different color driver's door that we had repainted to better match. There weren't any other HSE's with the heavy duty package within 500 miles.

That LR4 belonged to the owner of Expo Portal, and he commented on the damage from that jump. It was actually very minimal, the truck took it like a champ.

IIRC, he had to replace some of the plastic clips that secure the fender flares and get an alignment, and that was it.

I agree those Top Gear guys were idiots, but in totality, it was a pretty good endorsement of the LR4.

But good point that in addition to demonstrating what idiots they were, they showed the toughness of the Rover. But I'm still bitter, LOL.

Like you all, I was both impressed with what the truck could do and irked at how they drove it. I think that was the first and last episode I ever watched of the terrible US version of that show.

Good find. I hadn't ventured over there to look for it.

I could have sworn he mentioned somewhere that it needed to be aligned, but it has admittedly been several years and many beers, so I could be wrong.

I do remember wanting to throttle the stupid SOB who was driving it.

Glad he got some public digs in on Tanner Foust, who is supposedly an experienced stunt driver. That explains a lot about his driving style. OK I'm over it.

The advert is footage taken from the Bond filming, not filmed specifically for advertising. Of course it is not normal driving, but it does show that the defender is indeed pretty tough.

The more I see of the current Defender, the more I think my LR4 will be my only LR, unless I get a classic Defender as a toy or the wife wants a RR for mom duties

I just sold my 2008 LR3 with 131K miles. I drove it almost 6 years, and it was from a long line of LR's over the past 20 years. I got a 2011 LR4 with 80K miles as a bridge to when the first Defenders start coming off lease in 3-4 years.
