I am thinking about buying a used 2007 LR3 SE. I was wondering if there are other 07 owners out there who could comment on how their 07 LR3s are holding up?
Has LR made any improvements on the issues the 05 and 06s had?
It does not bother me to have to take it for service if things go wrong. It does bother me if the same things keeping failing.
I test drove an 06 LR3 yesterday that had 13k miles on it and was very impressed. I really want to get a used 07 or 08 as I would hope the quality would only have improved.
Thanks for your help.

I am happy with my 07 LR3 HSE. Bought it as new and now 10000 miles on it and no major problems. Some minor problems I can think of:

Rear view mirror buzzing (they are working on it)
Driver side mirror warped (they ordered parts)
Sun roof scratch (they took care of it)
Sun roof malfunction (they took care of it)
Mid passenger sun roof screen not locking up (they took care of it)

Mechanical failure:

Wiper time interval switch not working (they ordered parts)

One mistery problem but not mechanical failure:

80 to 75mph noise (see my other post)

LR service has been great so far. I've been waiting to have my own LR for a long time and it was totally worth it! - Brian

Thanks. I have had my eye on the LR3 since it came out in 05. Just tying to get some real feedback from owners instead of reading all the bad press (Consumer Reports).

7500 miles on my HSE V8 and only a few small items. Passenger speaker grill came a little loose causing a buzz, second row sunroof shade wouldn't latch and the PDC quit working. All items were repaired quickly under warranty (except for here in Spain LR dealers are OK, but stuck up). My biggest advice is to get a fully optioned (or close) vehicle as there are a TON of SE's out there that are taking a bit of the value right now and only HSE's are bringing good prices. Also, if you are an accesory person, try to get a good discount from your dealer at time of purchase. Accesories are really pricey afterward.

Thanks. I have been looking at the dealer's loaner LR3's (07s) that they have for sale. They keep them as loaners until they have about 5k miles and then sell them. From what I could tell they were spotless inside and out. Tire wear looked good on all of them.
I am trying to go the used route to get a better deal.

Best car I've owned...

I love my 2007 V8 SE. I have over 10k miles and no major problems yet. The only problem I had I encountered today. I connected my iPhone to the LR3 via Bluetooth and dialed a number. The number never dialed and now the radio is stuck saying "Dialing..." nothing I do can shut it off, even when you turn off the car. Have to get that checked out.

Other than that, it has been a great vehicle. This is my first Land Rover. My last car was a 2005 BMW 530 which was ok, but very uncomfortable on long trips.

The LR3 is awesome. What's great about it? Space, cargo room, cup holders - laugh all you want to Hyundai, but any American needs them all, the offroad capability is phenomenal. I live in Florida so we don't have hills and people ask why you need a LR3 in Florida. Because we have lots of sandy areas obviously and the ability to tread 27" of water is pretty much required. After any rain storm there will be plenty of places with a foot or two of standing water. When tropical storms or hurricanes come, it will be deeper than that. The LR3 has class too so you can roll out at night and not be ashamed you're in some lame vehicle.

I'm not a pure off road guy so I compared LR3 with BMW X5, Porsche Cayenne, Audi Q7, Hummer and a few others. The LR3 has the best combination of off-road, class, style, space and overall usefulness than any of the rest which is exactly what I was looking for.

I was concerned about the poor quality reports, but you can get a lemon with any company. A friend of mine also had a BMW 530 2006 model and two weeks after he had it the active steering went out while he was driving which almost made him crash.

No cars are perfect. With maintenance included and 50k mile warranty, I'm not worried.
