Money not being a deciding factor would you all go with the Rasta sliders or the Off Roving sliders. The Rasta have a clean line but I would think that the level 3 Off Roving sliders would be a lot more substantial than the Rasta's but I have no experiance with either. What are your thoughts.

Thanks,
Trevor

The rastas ar not really sliders but sill protectors imho. If you are going to do some tough stuff the Rover Specialties will protect you well, including the vulnerable compressor.

I have the level 1 and am pleased with them. I do not prefer having the outrigging of the other 2 levels. If I did I would go with the level 2.

With the rover specialties you will give up a little comfort. You have to leave the cover off the air compressor which means it will be louder. The sliders bolt to the frame and the body you do get some amplification of vibrations from the engine.

There are ways to lower the noise of the compressor with insulation and foam.

Also I did not mention on a previous post that with the rasta gearbox plate on, you do get an increase in engine exaust noise because the noise is bounced back upward instead of down to the ground.

I have the Rover Specialties Level 2 sliders, purchased through Off Roving. They are true sliders that go all the way under to the frame, which is a lot more protection. They are tough as nails too. Both in Colorado this past summer and later here in California on some pretty tough stuff (Lockwood Miller for example), I was very glad I had them on. They also look nice if you ask me. Here's a few pics.

OK, I'm sold. I will get the Rover Specialties sliders. I can live with a little noise. Between the Goodyear MTR's and the roof rack it can't get much worse and its not really that bad now. I am not quite sure why you have to remove the compressor cover but I am sure it will be quite apparent once I get under there to install them. Anybody have the rear tire mount and if so do you like it? Does it seem solid?

Another question, I have the Land Rover factory roof rack and it has a rating of like 165 lbs. That seems pretty wimpy. Is that all it will handle or are they just not wanting you to move the CG way up by loading the roof to much. I mean if it will only hold 165 lbs. then I might as well of not got the ladder because I can't be up there at 180 lbs.

165 is as much as they want you to have up there while the vehicle is moving. Walking around while the vehicle is parked (I hope) is not a problem. It can handle a lot more while not in motion. That being said I "know people" who have loaded up a lot more than 165 lbs. of stuff up there and still been alright. Not recommending though, or course.

Nice looking sliders. Looks like they are big enough to be a small step for children. Im torn between roof rack, sliders or brush bar but...the skid plate is nice too.

It will be apparent. The compressor cover hangs down to low and tail of it towards the back of the vihicle extends to far back to fit with the sliders.
