Just had my a/c compressor replaced at 27000 miles, little concerned about that.

My questions is, before I had the compressor replaced when I turn the system off I could hear a flap close.

Since I had the compressor replaced when I adjust the temperature wheel I can hear the flap close. From time to the flapst will open and close three or four times once the temperature wheel is set set.

Has anyone experienced this before?

Yes I have. With all my trail use, my a/c ductwork got dusty and the balancing valve would become audible, and to the endless delight of my children, would sound just like a fart.

Its servicable. I had mine done by the dealer under warranty so I don't know what all is involved, but the balancing valve is somewhere behind the glove boxes, and can be greased. 20,000 miles later, I still have silent operation.

Its amazing how often that balancing valve operates isn't it?

Damm you are a wealth on information, thanks very much

Let me ask you this, when I accelerate, and it is worse when going up a slight incline, and when I hit about 2000 to 3000 RPM it feels as though there is a slight vibration coming thru the steering wheel and just some strange sounds happening. It is as though the trunk struggling a little. I also tried it in sport mode and it is the same.
The only think that I could think it is would be something from the front end.

I know this is vague, but it just is aggravating, maybe it is fine I don’t know. The dealer I bought it from said I was just going to have to get used to driving a LR.

Any ideas…

That is a little vague. Check the non-obvious. Check your exhaust system. Check the heat shields near the driveshaft, check the skid plates to be sure they are tight. Check the heavy weight dampners under the rear bumper to see if they are swinging okay through a short arc of about 15 degrees fore and aft.

How many miles do you have? does it have the rear locker?

Just be sure you are in the car and do the test run with the mechanic (not the service advisor) sitting in the car with you to reproduce the problem. An astonishing huge number of items are "unable to reproduce" unless you are there.

ditto - take a tech on a tour, or at least someone who will verify and learn to replicate the same condition later (and on a QC run after the repair).

Sometimes the traction control makes some funny noises when it engages going up hill. As for the vibration, hard to say, some things vibrate when wheels are slipping/catching etc.

Also if you are slipping to much with DSC on your LR3 will cut power to stop the tire spin so it may seem to struggle if this happens. HDC also make funny noises when it engages which it sometimes does engage going up hill if you get and back sliding.
