Trust me it is not the alternator, I have worked for Rover dealers and others for years and that is not your problem.
As for the dealer, I don't know who you called at the dealer ship, but you spoke to the wrong person, this is a possible liability issue if they fail on you while driving. Call and ask to speak to the generall manager of the store, tell him of your problem and suggest he get you in tomorrow to save having any problems.

Ok, thank you Mike. I just wanted to make sure that I wasn't going to **** my battery. I just called and they will take me tomorrow.

Again thank you for your help,
Paul

I thought I had fixed this problem but it has come back. I originally thought it was fixed when I disconnected my battery and cleaned the terminals and connectors. The problem went away for about 2 weeks but now is back. Again I had the battery and alternator test and both are in good working order. Anyone have any new ideas??

Thanks
Paul

It is still a saftey issue and the dealer should be responsible for the repair. But, if you don't get it over to them in a timely fashion they aren't going to dp squat. Lean on them and see what they can find.

Exactly, bring it right into the dealer they should be responsible for all repairs
caused by this issue your having. I'm assuming it has some sort of warranty,
and if it does I'd drive it to the dealer and leave it. good luck.

I doubt it is warranty but all saftey issues are the responsibility of the dealer by most states law.

I had this exact same problem when I first got my 96' Disco. The lights (both headlights and dash) would flicker and be dimmer than usual. An experienced Rover tech told me that it's the alternator going south. He said usually as they start to do this the alt will read fine. I got my alternator rebuilt and also changed the battery (it was probably the original and winter was a few months away at the time...so I just changed it). After that...everything works fine and has been since (about 7 months now).
Good Luck!
