Mine leaks a bit into the cabin during very heavy rain

I’ll probably try to reseal it before I replace it
I have a couple leaks in back on my LR4, a drip down the rear hatch window in monsoons. Another clue of a problem is at WOT and when the 5.0L starts omitting a viscous growl tone in the mid to upper power band, if the air is just right and its giving all it has, I smell exhaust. It gets in the cab and I think the smell is coming in from behind the SUV and not in front where the engine is like I had thought.

But today I had it WOT and passed 2 simi trucks and trailers with a car in-between and it was fine. I've forgotten all about it until now. Maybe the exhaust is coming in from the tail light. I'm curious about how re-sealing would work? In the pics I've seen the lens gets destroyed in order to get at the seal.

The drips are from the tail light.

Check your valve covers for leaks. It’s probably oil burning off the exhaust manifold when they get really hot, the smell is most noticeable after spirited driving. Sometimes you’ll see smoking if it gets really bad. Mine does it pretty badly I’m doing mine this summer.

The valve covers are tight and sealed. I did have that problem when I bought it and could smell it. One time there was blue smoke pouring out the side of the hood at the end of an off-ramp at a light lol.

smell exhaust. door seals??
That is a possibility I haven't ruled out. I wipe them down with a rag at each wash, they don't appear damaged but its a guess. This morning washing my rig I discovered the 3rd light didn't move at all. Interestingly and maybe not a co-incidence, yesterday I made a WOT pass on an open desert highway passing two big rig semi-tracktor truck and trailers with two cars in-between each rig and put a bunch of cars on all of them and didn't smell any exhaust so I'm thinking maybe since the tail light isn't moving around there isn't an air leak.

Ha ha..necessity is the mother of invention!

Adhesive bead spread and then garage door used to provide pressure to cure. Will leave this way for two days.

When removing light to clean, had to cut wires since bloody litlle connector would not budge no matter what. And could not pull spray line from nozzle so cut it too. Reattached with vac hose fitting and joined wire and marine heat shrunk them.

Should be good for life of vehicle
