How-To DIY: Replacing LR4 in-tank fuel pump

Looking for anyone's experience or insight with this fault and this problem - I think we have narrowed it down but am unsure.

I am going to look around for a new "Fuel Sensor and Hanger" and we shall try, try again.

Are there other things we should be looking for in and around there?

Comes to mind but I don't know what that "low pressure sensor" does and even he had great difficulty in understanding what it did (and he replaced it, if I understand correctly, with no change with his underlying issue).

And I had purchased my parts a while ago (photo below)...which I now realize are the older components (which are supposed to be replaced with the newer parts as cited in the Technical Bulletin).

Dropped fuel tank and then the old components pulled out attached. They were still working properly but I was going to go ahead and replace everything while the fuel tank was down.

That said, does anyone have any advice or bad experiences with the old components? Is there something I should be looking out for based upon the technical bulletin?

I found this tool to fit well. Couple smacks to the breaker bar and it popped the flange ring loose. Swift blows worked better than constant torque.

Pics are all on that site, I tried reposting pics here but they're all too large.. too much trouble to resize lol.

Short of it, found a much easier route. Only have to disconnect 2 things -- the main fuel line (super easy, hose clamp) and only ONE line off front of tank (again this happened to be super easy - disconnect is well within reach and easy to squeeze/pull off). Once these are off, easy to drop the tank to ground with all the remaining lines attached. Jack up car as much as possible to get under it and disconnect the 3 fittings from the flange -- again all these are super easy, 30 seconds.. With the front lines still attached to car, you can swing the fuel tank out from under car enough to get the fuel flange clear, then do the rest of the job.

With the tank out, it's also super simple to replace the low-pressure fuel sensor if that's on your list. Its honestly not hard to do with the tank in.. but with tank out you approach the sensor from the rear side of the car -- lots of access. With the tank in, you approach the sensor from the engine side, less access but still a 30-45 min job tops, easy to do with deep 24MM socket and 14MM box wrench.

Doing it this way, changing fuel pump is prob 2-3 hr job max the first time you do it. Guessing once you've done it, cut time you need in half.
