Ok so I've rarely been getting the low coolant level message. I'd check it and level is fine. This has actually gone on for a few years with zero issues.
I recently saw it again and checked the fluid, all was well. I then let my daughter drive it and she was out all day and came home late. She woke me up to tell me the car died right in front of the house. Luckily she was parked well enough. I head out there at midnight and ask her how high did the needle go. She told me half way from middle to the top. Ok, so I'm thinking maybe bad radiator cap (but not sure why it died or if that's accurate) and today I top it off and start her up. Runs fine it seems, I turned on the heater inside and I left the cap off and squeezed the hoses for 25-35 minutes and top it off again while keeping an eye on the temp gauge. It all seems ok except no heat inside. I then drive it to the end of the block and it over heats. This time all the way up. I slowly turn around and watch it fall to normal and realize that anything over 1.5k rpm it's headed upward. Still air in the system or blockage?

I'm about to get it towed to the dealership. Curious if any of you have similar experience and what the end result was.

Cheers,
Drew

My bet is you still have air in the system I have found on the LR3 it works best to bring the engine up to temp with heater running. Then shut it off and let it cool as it cools the coolant will be pulled into the engine. I generally do this 2-3 times the heater should be blowing hot if not there is still air the system.

I think you can check Coolant Reservoir and fill it if necessary. Also, you can check thermostat housing and water pump too.
