Cleaning the MAF
It worked like a charm for me. (thanks Joey). No "check engine" light since I cleaned it. Use Quick dry electrical parts cleaner. It will dissolve all the dirt but leave no residue. -

Vibration Question
I had the question. I think it is worn out springs. Basically if I hut a pot hole or big bump on the highway, I get alot of recoil and have to be very alert. City speeds not a problem. New shocks and steering damper installed in November. -

Spring Boosters
I put a new steering damper on in November and that made a big difference. Now it is mainly when I hit a bump at high speed. Not really a shimmy but a reaction like the springs are worn out. I'll replace them and check the other suspension and steering parts. -

Has anyone every tried those air bag inserts for your springs to help the ride? I put new Blistein shocks on all the way around but I still get alot of bounce and shimmy when I hit a bump or an expansion joint on the freeway. Not a problem at lower speeds. Any suggestions or experience with... -

99 discovery II problems
For the seat switch try spraying electrical parts cleaner into it without taking it apart. Worked for me. To clean the oil intake you have to drop the pan. The screen at the base will be covered in sludge and gunk. My 97 Disco oil light would come on after driving on the highway for 10-20... -

recall on disco, rangerover gas tanks
Got one too for possible errors in the plastic welds on the top of the gas tank. Says will cause leaking especially when filling up. Also say you should smell the gas if you have a problem but take it in anyway. 97 Disco SE7 -

Either my fuel gauge is broken or cleaning the MAF thoroughly with electronic parts cleaner was a miracle. Went from 30 miles of stop and go driving before the needle dropped to 3/4 to 50 miles of driving. It also seems to be much more responsive. No check engine light on either. Will do... -

10-13 MPG. Use Premium fuel. 2 weeks ago new magnacor wires and Bosch Platinum 4 plugs. New air filter, shocks, tires inflated to the proper pressure, synthetic oil in my de-gunked crankcase. Never had any check engine code come up other than P1179. My baby runs fine just lousy mpg. I'll... -

I will try some electrical parts cleaner. I had it apart last week but I was afraid to use it because I didn't know if it would mess something else up. I'll let you know how it turns out. Shouls I also replace the O2 sensors? I'm at 66000 miles and I doubt the previous owner did... -

I have the same type of issue but I am also getting a P1179 code for air intake module or whatever you call it (other than a $400 part). I clear the fault code and it won't come on again for a week or so. Would O2 sensor replacement help or should I start thinking about a new mass air... -

I have a 97 Disco and since November I have installed shocks, steering stabilizer, repaired the CDL shifter linkage, dropped the oil pan and cleaned the strainer, changed engine and diff oil, fixed the seat adjustment switch, replaced the right window regulator and put on new rear mud flaps... -

noisey lifters on right side..
Could also be caused by sludge in the oil pan clogging up the strainer at the end of the intake.
