Check Engine Code P1179

Can anyone help with this code? Have a 1997 Disco I, with 4.0 eng. Dealer says #4 cyl. valve is carboned up, needs valve job. Disco has 76,000 miles, and runs fine. I'm a new member, and have done quite a bit of work on the Disco already. Mostly service items, brakes, shocks, minor repairs. Will seafoam or B&G 44k help this problem?

Check all of the posts from "Very poor gas mileage" March 14, 2005.

I have a 97 Disco with 66000 miles, and the P1179 code would come on every couple of days. I cleaned the MAF with electrical parts cleaner and did everything else as you'll see in the posts and my MPG went from 10 to 14 and the code has not come on since.

My ex has a 98 and it does it as well. I have yet to clean the MAF. I bought a OBDII reader (Actron) from Advance Auto the other day. It reads it and will clear it.
