Problems with steering wheel surface
Check out my thread titled Drivers airbag module. The leather cover basically disintegrated. The dealer told me that the problem also happened to a batch of Range Rover wheels. They replaced the wheel without issue. -

How to removei shift knob ?
No turns required. Grasp firmly with two hands, lift upward. It pops right off. You may have broke some plastic engagement tabs inside the handle. No problem if your installing a new one. -
