Hi Folks,

I noticed that Navtech seem to have a new upgrade to the N.America Nav DVD for a pretty penny or two. I was wondering if many people have installed this and noticed any difference to the map and route info it contains. I live in the Houston area and it seems to suggest updates for the city amonst other things. Also I didnt realise that LR prefer you to buy via Navtech instead of the dealer ??

Cheers,

Adrian

Land Rover just recently put a link on their website to Navtech's website for Nav updates. By cutting out the dealer, it should save about 40% on the price. Not sure which version they're offering yet as the website was being updated.

Yes, Land Rover decided to "outsource" the official Navigation DVD distribution... which is good.

As with all maps, it's never perfect. But it's fairly obvious if it's newer, it'll have updates. :D

I went to NavTech for the update and it linked me over to the LR Website automatically. Updates were $199. There's a list of locales that now have coverage or expanded/updated coverage. My 2005 disc gets me from A-B quite easily. Anyone know why I should shell out two bills for the update?

It's not worth it. I installed the new disk. I searched for for two locations (my mothers new development house in Atlanta and a local hospital that has been there for 25 years!) that weren't on the old disk. They still aren't on the new version.

My guess is that no one is paying them to keep track of new houses, roads or hospitals but, they aren't going to miss a new Starbucks or Panera Bread!

If you find flaws in their maps (just check one of the online map services that use their map database for the "most recent" revision), just submit feedback to Navtech. They'll flag it for verification... if fixed, it'll trickle down to the less dynamic Navigation data discs eventually.

Also, if you use the navteq link go to "map reporter" off of main page. You can "test" the new map to check if new areas are in the system before purchase.
