The only thing I don't like on this one is that it doesn't go above the hatch and the antenna. I've hit the top of my factory ladder on low garages and I'd much rather have scrapes on that, which no one can see, as opposed to a busted plastic antenna.
Also, I think it helps to have a place to...
Also don't be afraid to spend $250 on a Pre Purchase Inspection if you are buying from a private party. You will get a list of things that need to be done now and what will need to be done in the future with an estimated cost. Then you can counter the sellers offer deducting the amount of...
I hear ya! I was just curious because I drove an 81' Mercedes S-Class turbo diesel in HS that my parents had from new. It's amazing how fast the diesels are now. Car had close to 300K miles (and looked great) before it got T-boned back in '06, they don't build them like they used to...
Pretty scary! We had to flea from Irma and our only worries were lack of gas and traffic heading north. Glad to see that you guys and the truck made it out safe and sound.
The other symptom of worn bushings is steering wheel vibration you get when the brakes are applied, usually at HWY speeds. Now this could also signal warped brake rotors which are caused by lazy techs who airgun the hell out of your lugs.
Also, oil could be present on the floor when they...
I also took off the LR4 and added the Discovery 4. I kinda like that it says Discovery on the front of the new ones. I would consider doing it to my 4 but I have a bull bar that basically blocks that area and it wouldn't be seen.
I got my Discovery 4 decal from http://miamibritish.com
They...
Have you thought about applying a film on the outside of the windshield to prevent this from happening? I guess this wouldn't work if you had the cold weather package and use the heated windshield. (I do and live in Miami:dontknow:) Rear heated seats get used, the rest not so much.
I know...
Thanks, I'll give them a call. I actually have 2 $25 gift certificates from them that I won in a raffle at a Florida Land Rover Club Rally. They are located in Central FL.
When you have a chance, can you send us a pic or 2 of the damage? Where did you buy the car from? If you bought it from a dealer, I would make them pay to have it fixed.
Pre Purchase Inspection on a vehicle from a private seller for $250 on any high $ used vehicle seems like a great idea...
I was curious...

Thanks, I had no idea they just popped off. I'll get on that and take some pics. That's even more reason for them to sell replacement ones if they just pop off. If they don't look great after cleaning them, I'll contact Delphi to see if they sell the knobs and report back.
Haven't been to...
I've looked at buying the roof netting map holders that the D2 has in the 2nd row to install in the 2nd row of the 4. My concern is what is behind the fabric up there and how would I anchor it properly? I miss that and I also miss the front seat map holders above the vanity mirrors. Those...
That rigid one costs $350... on sale. It covers a different area than the webbing though, it's entirely over the 3rd row glass. I have the webbing too, but I wouldn't be able to cross into the 2nd row because I have the Travall dog barrier. I would consider the Mantec one, but for $350 plus...
My only concern would be out on the trails where those items could hit the glass? I guess you could just put soft things up there like sleeping bags and such. I think Mantec makes a rigid one but every picture I've seen has a 3 or a 4 with no sunroof. Most of us should have those.
Beautiful Truck!
Are the tires flush or less with the body panels? My concern would be kicking up mud and grime onto the sides so easily.
I used to have the mudflaps but they all got ripped off on the trails. This truck should come with flexible flaps not rigid ones.
Rears wear faster on our 4 as well. Always have changed both the rotor and pads at the same time.
I'd rather have dirty wheels and stick with the great brake performance of the Ferodo OEMs.
Ok, so I have a 2011 LR4 LUX with 88K miles. I guess my wife and I rest our arms on the 'arm rest' portion of the door and have worn out the pleather/vinyl or whatever it is. We do have the LUX, which has softer leather for the seats, but we don't have the extended leather package which I...
I too have the full size spare, 20" because I have the Heavy Duty package. I made the mistake of "not knowing" that if you winch back up without any weight "the spare" the metal cord gets tangled up in the spool and is unusable. I popped a tire on a trail 300+ miles from home at a Florida Land...
2011 LUX at 88K
Things that need to be done:
-diff oil change
-Want to change trans oil but my Indy seems to think that it's a waste of time and money...
So this brakes getting gunked up is only an LR thing and doesn't happen to all cars that follow snow plows and push through inches and inches of slush?
-Spare tire is currently sitting in garage, winch thingy broke winding it up unloaded
-Water pump changed under warranty at 50K miles
-Lower...
Stupid question... How often do you guys, who live in snow and slush, rinse off your wheels or even the undercarriage for that matter? I live down south so I only have to deal with occasional sand and mud when off-roading. I understand it's cold outside and you might not want to be hosing...
