I got 45K out of the factory rear brakes and 60K out of the fronts. Replaced both before wear sensors tripped.
Also, when doing brakes on LR4 or any other modern Rover, you are likely to find the rotors are trash. Dealers also change pads and rotors when they do the job. The rotors are usually grooved from the metallic pads and cannot be turned as they are already under spec. Both my old LR3 and current LR4 tested this way. I also did four brake jobs on the LR3 as I drove it 250K miles. So, if you want a smooth running and fresh system, plan on doing both pads and rotors.
Also, the fronts and rears appear to be on quite different schedules for my driving style. My rears always go first. Not sure if everyone experiences the same.
On brands, I’ve used both factory equipment purchased through Atlantic British and have also used an EBC package on the LR3 which was really nice. On the LR4, I used coated Raybestos rotors and metallic pads from RockAuto. They feel every bit as good as the factory stuff and drives the same. I actually think the rotors are a better product than factory. I have about 30K miles on the rear now and about 15K miles on the fronts. All is well. There is no grooving on the rotors and about the same as factory on pad dust. The price difference from factory branded parts to aftermarket is about half. Doing it yourself versus the dealer is about another half.
Good luck and I hope this helps.
