"should be able to squeeze a 17 inch wheel over the calipers, but it may not be curb or rock friendly :-("
Won't the 17" be the most curb/rock friendly? Isn't that the whole point?
"I am inquiring with several tire vendors as to whether their DIscovery 16" rims would fit the LR3 bolt pattern. I think that would give us alot more choice in offroad tire."
That sure would be awesome and open up a plethora of choices. But, will it fit our calipers?
"Wouldn't a 265/70 be a larger diameter than a 245/70? "
My mistake. Our tires are 30".
265/70 17 = 31.6"
245/70 17 = 30.5"
Thus, if the 245/70 will fit the ebay 17" wheel, then that is the way to go.
So far, this is what I have found available in the US.
On ebay, there are these 17" LR3 rims that supposedly fit 235/70 17. Too bad no one makes an off road tire in that size.

"why didn't you raise the suspension to the max height before starting in the puddle et al?"
Suspension was raised to max height for the entire time.
The suspension failed at the end, but raised itself back up when I re-raised it.
Could there be a 17" rim that fits the LR3?
Took the LR3 to the trails for the first time yesterday:

I am a novice at best. I have done some offroading in Colorado with my old Durango.
The LR3 takes some learning. I found myself in the wrong mode wondering what was...
Yesterday I went out with the LR club off roading in Lake Geneva:

There was this climb I tried 4 times, but couldn't quite get over the top. When I gave up, I got out of the truck to take pictures of another guy trying it in a RR...
The only thing I like about the Voice is perhaps the ability to really flip around tracks. But for most things, actually touching the radio with my fingers is faster and more convenient. I also like saying "Navigation Go Home."
I think the film will help an aweful lot. 3M makes a similar product to put on the entire front of a motorhome to prevent chipping. It works wonders. Will it be a 100% shield against any boulder that hits? Nope. But if it works like the 3M film does, then it is worth the forty bucks.
I saw this on eBay and was wondering if it is worth it:

Then today, I stopped by the LR dealer to get my plates, and this range rover pulls in behind me in the service line. He has...
The documentation with the wiring kit is merely installation instructions. However, the wiring kit is for a 7 pin connector and 4 pin. A 7 pin connector is for trailer brakes. Does that particular pin connect to anything?
I noticed that my LR3 wiring kit has a 7 pin connector. One of the pins on a 7 pin controller is for the brakes. Does that mean that when I apply my brakes that the trailer will brake also? Or, do I need a controller?
If the LR wring kit with the 7 pin connector does not cause the trailer...
Yesterday it got up to 60F here. Thus, the inside of the truck became too hot when sitting in the sun. We drove 15 minutes to lunch, but with the dials in the coldest position, I could not get the system to cool the inside of the vehicle. My Audi had a little trouble in that scenerio - when...
I got a loaded as could be HSE with a $1000 discount off of MSRP. You will note that their invoice is much lower. I hear that they are more willing to negotiate the SEs. I was able to get another dealer to go $1500 off of an HSE, but they didn't have the color I wanted.
So I am thinking about getting a set of wheels/tires for offroad use.
What size should I pick? Do I want to stick with 255, or go narrower/wider?
How about 255/85-16?
Any thoughts?
Thanks.
