The starter should be under a heat sheild. Towards the back of the engine under the right hand exhaust head. Two bolts hold it together the one under is real easy to get to the one on top you'll need a long extention because you have to get it from just behind the radiator. That is the only...
well I was checking the CD and it said it was under ther driver seat. Plus there is also another hook up for the BECU under the passager side foot panel. On my 97 Disco it is right above the gas peddle. I will look in both places and post my findings. Thanks for the info
1997 Range Rover HSE. Does anyone know where to hook up the computer scanner on this one. Trying to scan my Rover can't find where to hook up the computer. Any help would be great.
Well If you put larger tires on than manufacture recommends there goes your fuel economy. K&N air intake is better for pony's and pretty equal for fuel. As far as better fuel ecnomy bottom line sad to say buy a little car.
Just a good reminder to all. Always use your parking brake. The pin that hold you 3000+ pound vehical in park and to stop it from rolling is only the size of a #2 pencil. Even if you are on a flat surface. It doesn't take much for it to start rolling.
Yakima racks make a set up for a kayaks. This also means you'll have to buy the yakima cross racks that secure to your rain gutters. They are normally the cheapest and the best for roof mount racks.
There is a pin the size of a #2 pencil that holds the vehical in park. Unfortunatly it is inside the trany. That also means if it is broke or sheered off it is also rolling around in your tranny. I would have it looked at by a tranny pro.
It depends on if you change the filter. 7 quarts is what I use in mine 10-40w plus when I add 7 quarts I wait for a minute or two then I start the engine so the oil can cycle then turn off engine wait about 10 minutes and check it again so all the oil can drop to the pan. oil change 101.
If you really want to know where the leak is on your next oil change put the leak spot dye in and with a small black light look for it. How much oil does it leak? Keep checking your oil daily. Rear main seal had mine replaced for $300.00 stopped leaking.
22 miles to the gallon thats pretty good. I get about 15 with both of mine 97 Disco se7 / 97 Range Rover se. I've ran the gas tank almost dry and put in supreme unleaded to see if that would help. Not a thing just more expensive to fill up. So went back to regular. I will check into...
97 disco se7 replaced seals in rear sun roof and it still leaks. Tried the duck tape thing and that is irritaiting me. Is there any thing else to look for like a breather tube or a drain that could be leaking? Also does any one know the quick way to remove dried / weathered duck tape? I can't...
Have your Radiator flushed would be the next easy thing. I'm not sure on landrovers where the berp valve is but did you get all the air out of the system? Also what engine do you have?
Fuel pumps sometimes just go out. Mine in my 97 Disco took about 6 months to go. If it is your mass air flow sensor it will through a code have you had it scanned?
Hello and welcome. I have a 97 Range Rover SE. The sun roof on it also leaks when ever I wash it. I have noticed that the seals are good but on the glass where the casing is holding it (metal to glass) is also bent on the inside and that is where it is leaking on mine. I will fix it before...
I own a beamer and that is not normal. The knocking noise is no oil at the VALVES. The reason it stops (Knocking) is cause the oil finally gets there. This is really really not a good thing. I would have my oil pump tested and check all the oil lines. Because 1 day the oil might not reach...
Bought a 97 Range Rover se and from the beginning it has bean sluggish no guts. I have a 97 Disco se 7 with the same motor 4.0 v-8. It has more guts with more milage. My 97 Range has 82,000 miles on it and my 97 Disco has 189,000 miles on it. I've scanned my Range and no codes pop up. I've...
Well first thing that I would look for is do the moter mounts line up if not than you'll have to do a little fab work. That and the tranni. I do know that they sell conversion kits you might want to check out this site.www.jagsthatrun.com/ I beleive any engine can fit into any vehical it only...
One or both of your tranni mounts could be bad. Had the same issue with my Beamer just replaced the tranni mounts and it went away. $35.00 fix parts from the dealer. Real easy to look for crawl under and take a look see if they are torn or squshy.
Also put a test light up to your pump fuse there could be a short. With that year I beleive there are two fuses in the compartment in the engine section
The pressure test did you restart your engine several times. My fuel pump went out on my 97 Disco and it took several months for it to go out. All the time pump was getting weaker. Try restarting or just turning over the ignition several times so your pump can kick on. See what the pressure is.
Fix was to hill billie to tell. But he did tell me that it can happen with fuel injected systems. It was thought at one time that it could only happen on a Carberated fuel system. He also mentioned the fuel temp sensor. Hope this helps
Vapor lock?
Try the fuel temp sensor. Just curious when you remove the gas cap (where you fill up) do you get alot of hissing? I've heard of this happening on a Ford pickup where they would get Vapor Lock. It would cause the engine to heat up while it sat Idle. Plus it would sputter and...
Had the same problem in my 97 disco it turned out to be the ignition switch. With mine I could pull out the key turn the key around then insert it back in and it would start did this for about 2 years then i had to replace it. Went to the dealer and had them fix it.
