Need some help from the experts to identify this ticking on a '16 LR4

There's 2 distinct sounds, at the beginning you hear both at the same time, and at the 0:24 second mark you hear the lighter ticking sound (injectors). I'm pretty sure the other sound is the timing chain slop. Tell your buddy not to drive it and get the timing chains done before he needs a new...

    Tire sizes

I'm pretty sure the door card recommended psi ratings are optimized for fuel economy ratings/performance, traction, and air ride quality. It really doesn't matter what size tire you have, every tire shop will still utilize the suggested door card psi. It's safe to use close to those psi ratings...

    2012 LR4 - Diagnosing two separate vibrations

I second this! Did this a 2 years ago and it helps with the vibration. You'll have to tap that part of the transfer case. https://www.landroverworld.org/threads/2013-lr4-weird-humming-noise.30757/post-239237

    Thoughts on these spark plugs?

I smoked it by connecting a smoke air bladder into the throttle body.

    Thoughts on these spark plugs?

Those numbers are extremely high. You should probably smoke test your system and remediate any leaks. I found out that my entire intake manifold was leaking even with new gaskets. I didn't feel like buying a new or used intake manifold, so I simply grind the metal spacers down evenly for all of...

Land Rover Valve Cover Spark Plug Gasket - Genuine Rover LR014345 - thoughts on cost

Oh no... my fault, I gave you a link to the wrong gaskets. Elring is a well-known manufacturer for many car brands. I got this Elring set when I did my valve covers a while back...

Land Rover Valve Cover Spark Plug Gasket - Genuine Rover LR014345 - thoughts on cost

It's hard to see; but I hyperlinked "pretty cheap $4" on the previous post. Here's the link. https://www.rmeuropean.com/Products/LR014345-MFG1110-V5657.aspx

Elring is the oe manufacturer on this specific gasket and you can get them pretty cheap $4. I have the elring gaskets on and they're fine.

    Throttle body coolant line mystery

The pipe runs to the rear crossover pipe that connects to both heads. Which helps fill the block from the rear and gets just enough coolant into the block to complete the coolant circulation, but it does NOT completely get all the air out of the system. You'll still have to burp the system. 2-3...

    stainless steel brake lines

The rear comes in a kit with both inner/outer ss lines and hardware, full replacement to all rubber lines. The front is single ss line per side with hardware in its kit. Again, I did mine back in 2017 if I remember correctly.

    stainless steel brake lines

I've had mine on since my brake conversion to fit 17s since 2017 and the SS brake lines have been good to me. BTW, here are the part numbers for Stoptech SS brake lines, Front: 950.22000 Rear: 950.22500. It's a direct bolt-on. Super easy to fit and just make sure you bleed your brake system and...

    Head Removal

It's a good amount of work to get the heads off and put everything back together. I've removed the heads with the body on with an engine support bar. I highly recommend setting/locking in the timing tools in place before starting. THE trickiest part out of all this is getting those darn screws...

Third head gasket job- why are they failing?

Good point @greiswig. Here's a dumb question... going with oem head gaskets again for my '11 LR4. Do I get the original superseded head gaskets or the ones that supersedes the old version? What makes the newer design better/worst than the previous design, if the original design lasted 100k+...

System too lean at idle - Bank 1 and 2

Have you tried replacing both MAFs? The MAFs will affect fuel trims. What are the STFT and LTFT on both banks?

Third head gasket job- why are they failing?

@Red Top Engine How's it holding up with the copper spray coat? My replacement head gasket is toast right around 2 years too and was thinking about replacing it and coating it.

Colorado Land Rover Owners: Is British 4x4 in Aurora still in business? I can't seem to get in touch with them

I second this! A family friend services both of his LR4s there. They have a working LR4 LS conversion kit in the works too!

Any DIY tips out there on replacing a 2016 LR4 SCV6 Thermostat Housing?

There's a metal retaining clip that holds the plastic coupling to the lower thermostat, just pop it out with a flat head screwdriver. With the thermostat bolted down in place, I used a single paracord and tied constrictor knot around the top side of the lower tube and with the other end another...

    ARB Fridge

Or you can just remove the second row middle seat and it'll fit in there perfectly. I have an Engel MT45 that's strapped there full time and I can grab a cool beverage from the front seat.

Do durable side wall tires exist for the LR4?

Nowadays, there are a ton more options than 3+ years ago for 19s. I'd suggest moving at least to 31s with little to no modifications for more sidewall while off roading. Toyo Open Country AT3, Falken Wildpeak AT Trail (more highway friendly), AT3W (more agressive) or AT4W (superseeds AT3W)...

    Bullet Proof Control Arm Bushings

Word of advice, just do a quick check on the front lca before a big outing and check for cracks at the rear bushing. So, you don't end up like mine. All it takes is 10 seconds to look.
