Front end noise- Bad brakes or wheel bearing?

    Awesome, thanks for the clarification!

Front end noise- Bad brakes or wheel bearing?

Ok I found this video which says that rubber piece on the pin is an "anti-rattle" mechanism, and can sometimes swell up and cause the pin to get stuck and can lead to uneven brake pad wear. Guy in video says he removes them, which I didn't (and probably wouldn't) do. If its only function is to...

Front end noise- Bad brakes or wheel bearing?

Well shoot, I think mine were on top and I put them back where I found them... I'll have to take things apart again and rectify that! Does anyone know why exactly they go on the bottom? I'm googling it, but it's mostly just people asking the same question, then lots of guesses and "it doesn't...

Anyone running 20" BFG KO2 without mods? And, there's a new BFG 20" tire option.

Good to know, I may have to do that! I also emptied about 90% of the air out of the spare and it fits up in the normal spot. I plan on disabling that single TPMS sensor if possible (and leave the others), and just plan on filling it up when needed with the air compressor I carry in my vehicles.

    Diagnostic Tool for Discovery 5

The GAP tool has been invaluable to me with my LR4. Clearing codes, changing suspension height, diagnosing issues, etc.. All for $525 or so. It'll pay for itself if you use it twice instead of going to the dealer for codes/diagnostics

Front end noise- Bad brakes or wheel bearing?

I'm really hoping its the pins aka an easy fix. We get cold and enough salt to fill a small ocean..

Front end noise- Bad brakes or wheel bearing?

In the past 1000 miles I've been hearing a "humming" noise coming from the front of my LR4. The noise is more noticeable on the driver side. No odd vibrations, shaking wheel, etc.. I've suspected my wheel bearing was acting up, so I jacked up the vehicle and checked all wheels for play. I...

    Exterior A Trim adventures

So, I had noticed my exterior A pillar trim pieces were a little loose and making noise at highway speeds when driving in crosswind. Didn't think much of it, given it only made noise a couple times. I noticed that I had a couple drops of water fall on my left leg as well when it was raining...

2010 LR4 HSE Luke warm heat on driver side

I had the same issue in my RRS. My Indy shop said the most likely issue was one of two things; a blocked heater core or blender doors. Trying to flush the system is the cheapest option, but with the layout of the heater core it's very hit or miss on if it'll work. My shop recommended trying a...

Anyone running 20" BFG KO2 without mods? And, there's a new BFG 20" tire option.

That could be, I tried lifting the front in first while my wife handled the winch, then tried putting the back of the tire up first. Either way, it wouldn't go up with the hitch in place. Unfortunately it looks like that hitch is married to the truck and isn't going to come off without a fight.

    Showoff Your LR4

I ended up ordering a cheap set off Amazon based on some positive reviews. If they don't work out or aren't as advertised I'll check those out!

    Rear middle seat folding issue

Well, my wife figured it out for me... "Why don't you just push it down?" Sure enough, gave it a nice firm shove while holding the pull lever to put it down, and down it went :)

Anyone running 20" BFG KO2 without mods? And, there's a new BFG 20" tire option.

I tried multiple different approaches (front of the tire up first, back up first, etc), but on mine a 255/60/19 will not fit with the tire fully inflated and the hitch in place. I removed the shields which bought me a bit of room, but the tire is still pressed up against a part of the...

    Showoff Your LR4

Couple changes from my last post above. Black wheels, bigger AT tires, blacked out the side grills and part of the front grill. Next up are smoked side markers and front window tint.

Introduction - Thinking of Coming Back to LR Fold

I also recently came back to the LR family after 1.5 years away (sold my 07 RRS supercharged and went to Alfa Romeo), and now I'm back in an LR4 with the HD package. Absolutely love this truck, I want to keep it for many years. Plenty of room for our 130lb dog, car seats, and enough room to...

Well, got the tires on and went to put the spare back, and the stupid spare tire winch failed on me lol Ordered a new one, should be here Friday and I'll try again then.

    LR4 2013 5.0L engine ?

If you have the '13 model year it will have the updated timing components. They made the switch in the '12 cycle so even some late '12 models had the new stuff.

    2015 L405 Owner

The shop I used here in Wisconsin was called Foreign Car Specialists in Madison WI. His favorite cars to work on are actually older British cars like MG/Triumph, etc.. He did work on my Range Rover, Porsche 911, a couple of my old e36 BMWs, and VW Golf. At the time I had a 2007 Range Rover...

    2015 L405 Owner

That still seems like a crazy price to me. Are you still planning on talking with an Indy shop? I know that the dealership gave me a list of about $8k worth of work on my last Range Rover, and my Indy shop did all the work for under $2500.

    Exhaust solutions?

Will do! From videos I've watched, the ProXS muffler isn't much more than stock. I'm just worried about getting highway drone, because I spend quite a bit of time driving between 65-75 mph.

    Exhaust solutions?

Well I bought a Borla ProXS muffler and will likely be having that installed soon. Plan is to replace the stock muffler, and maybe remove that center resonator as well while leaving the two rear resonators in place.

I'll definitely try fitting before removal of the shield, and will post the outcome. I'm keeping the stock 19" LR4 wheels.

Anyone running 20" BFG KO2 without mods? And, there's a new BFG 20" tire option.

I'm getting the same tires and size installed next week. Rather than taking the hitch on/off to get it back in the original location, I'm planning on removing the heat shields and just using some exhaust wrap on the pipes near the tire. I did a similar thing on my RRS when I fit bigger tires...
