LR4 - Heavy Duty Package Question

The Random Orbital Polisher and the Langka Sanding and Blob kits are your friends. Thank Yahweh they do not measure paint thickness at lease return inspections..... I'm always paranoid taking my wife's FFRR off-road. No rock crawling; but steep gravel, brush, rocky creeks and a white glove...

    LR3 Cargo Mat

I have the rigid, which I really like, but it is a pain to get out. It works fabulous as a pseudo enclosed pick-up bed; making trips to the beach or throwing muddy tools in the back painless in terms of clean-up and risk of trashing and scratching-up the interior. To get it out, you have to...

    Confessional

No more LR3 for me too I gave my LR3 back 3-weeks ago, and I miss it too. It was a great, functional and nice to drive beast that was rugged and versatile. Huge contrast to the Cayenne GTS, which is equivalent to a GT3 SUV, very hardcore and brutish. My wife is now allowing me to use the...

    Quarterly sales numbers?

The LR2 and RRS seem to be the only 2009's available. Some SF Bay area dealers only have one or two 2009 FFRR and LR3's on offer. It's like LRNA decided to skip the entire model year.

To Buy Or Not To Buy - Help, Please!

I'll warn you that you will be asked to search..... however; I've owned Lexus, Mercedes, Porsche Jeep SUV's. Our LR3 is second in reliability to the Lexus. Combined with the dealer being on my commute route and their ability to always put me in either a Land Rover or Jag as a loaner makes...

    New Brakes at 16k Miles??

For reference. Both my front/rear pads were 80% worn @ 18K. I verified the pads, and noticed that the rotors had a slight lip. Dealer said rotors needed to be changed when I asked about these specifically; but invoice stated "recommended", leading me to believe they were still serviceable. No...

    LR3 Interior Care

The Griot's Leather spray has cleaning agents, so I use it in between the "once every six months all day treatments". My wife has the ivory Windsor leather, which stains very easily. The Leather Spray will get the blue jean stains out. (vacuum, wet cloth, Leather Spray). I also use Griot's...

    Amber Parking Brake Light?

Hi Gents, I'm sure it is buried in the Manual somewhere, but... Twice now after climbing a half-mile 20-40 degree crushed granite/vegetation hill the amber Parking Brake light on the dash will light-up until I turn-off the truck and let it sit for about 10 minutes. I know the parking brake is...

Should I bother putting the OE GoodYear Wranglers back on?

I gave away my GY's with plenty of tread and only 10K miles precisely because of the hydroplanning issue. I vote for the ATR - an all-terrain tire with seemingly no ATesque drawbacks (e.g., ride, noise). My Yoko A/T-S's have been similar, but are only available in 18". I'm planning on putting...

    New Lr4!!!!!!!!

As long as LR keeps improving the functional performance, I think the glitz is only going to help to sell more LR3-er-4's. From personal experience, my wife rejected our LR3 because it was too stark inside and the steering was too heavy for her. Ironically, I really like the rugged leather...

    Replacing the LR3 with....

Appreciate the lack of derision gents. It is diabolical and geared so low that I am completely ignoring first gear altogether, and starting-off in second. After commuting in to the City this morning, I am definetly getting 18" wheels. Amazingly, there seems to be a healthy supply of 18" OE...

    Replacing the LR3 with....

Well lads, The lease is up on my LR3 in June, and I was looking for a replacement. Was entertaining getting a CPOed RRS or LR3, and dropped by the local Porsche dealer to look at/rule out the base V6 Cayenne; as I was leaning to a sporty SUV since I had to turn the Cayman in last summer...

How to break into an LR3

Hey, thanks for the pics, and way to get aggro with the power tools. Beats my hand-file fix, which means, I still have to mount in backwards.

How to break into an LR3

MST, I just ordered the longer pins too, your post inspired me to check the site for updates and I saw the longer pins for the Tacoma hitch. Our you mounting in backwards, with the safe facing inward?

    LR3 Interior Care

cdodkin, That is fabulous. I'm using Zymol Leather Conditioner, and do the same thing to the LR3 and FFRR about twice a year; however, I spread about 5 thin layers about a half an hour apart on a day over 90 degrees farenheit. The Zymol does not seem as thick as the Connolly. The FFRR has the...

I would also consider the Yoko A/T-S in 265/60-18 or 275/60-18.

How to break into an LR3

MST, I bought the Hitch safe and spent an hour filing it so it would fit in backwards - the pegs will not line-up otherwise. I got it to fit, but then the pegs were not long enough to secure the safe. Frustrated, I put it into our FFRR hitch, where it fits perfectly. I would recommend...

    Making the LR3 trail ready

I do not do much in the way of rock-crawling, mainly for serious ascents/descents on brush covered decomposed granite roads/trails. -Yokohama Geolander A/T-S 265/60-18 -A-Frame Brushguard -Side-steps, which work great as brushguards too. -Lamp protectors

floorboards soaked, and I mean SOAKED

I think it is a standard Solihull feature. Our 2008 FFRR just demonstrated the waterfall feature too. At least my wife was conditioned for it this time, per the LR3.

    technical differences between discovery 3 & LR3

I love my Rovers, their capability, and their character; yet they have their foibles. Our LR3 has been decently reliable, but it does have a few issues that they dealer has been unable to resolve (screeching ignition, groaning alternator(?)) Lease end is in three months, so I'll let the next...

    with or without xenon headlights

When I linked my phone (Sanyo SCP 7050) to the RR, the address book comes-up and I can scroll through on the touch screen and do a myriad of other functions w/o having to touch the phone. It also responds to voice, I believe, but I have not tried this out yet. My wife's Razr will link with...

    with or without xenon headlights

I cannot tell that much of a difference between our 2008 RR's Xenons and our 2006 LR3 Halogens, the latter's halogens being rather good. Will drive both in the rain per drive-on's post above. I also really like the Bluetooth in both trucks. It is very clear, and both cars do well to isolate...

    The 2009 LR3

I really like the fact that I can drive through brush without marring the bumper and wheel wells (see pic), in combination with the side-steps and A-Frame protector. The painted bits look nice, but the practical/functional aspect takes a nose dive.

Kuhmo and Avon tires- How are they holding up?

I'm very impressed with my Yoko A/T-S's. Do have issue with the Revo's being rated as quieter, which I completely disagree with based on my experience with them - the Yoko's are definetly quiter. Revo's do have better snow traction, but I think the Yoko's have the edge off-road.

    Best tire for all conditions?

Tire Update: My LR3 went into the shop (go figure), so I got a loaner with the GYs. Had a pre-scheduled meeting with some tree consultants on the Ranch (see pic). We were traversing along a 5 degree slope in fairly soft soil that had recently been mowed. In my LR3 with the yoko's or my old Gx...
