Oil Change Just Because It's Been 18 Months?
For any number of reasons, the 2013 has seen very, very few miles lately, just enough to keep everything lubricated and charged. The motor oil is coming up on 18 months since the last change but less than 1,000 miles, more like about 500 miles. I was always taught to change oil every 2 years... -

I would not worry about that. There is a UTube video discussing rust treatments - you can look up, the highest rated was Por-15. It's expensive, get a quart, it covers like crazy, and will be more than you need. I used it on my daughters LR4 last summer and will evaluate after it returns... -

That grey hose barb fitting has no connections. If you want that black bit as a plastic part you need to purchase the entire assembly from Rover. If you are OK with introducing a new material of construction - no matter how limited in surface area it may be - then those are available in brass... -

I note that you seemed to imply that you had a trusted shop in Houston? Who are you using?? I am in Houston and my experience with all the dealerships has not been good. I do not trust any of them to do a good job and I do all my own work. We now have three, count 'em three LR4's, for myself... -

The best way is to use the vacuum technique. I have never used the bleed procedure. Part number for bleeder port plug on front crossover pipe LR011038, about $5 from Rover. Same part number for V8 and V6 -

That seems to tell me that there is air in the system. Compresses down under pressure and then expands back when pressure is released. Two ways to address that, bleed or vacuum... It might, maybe circulate out, but I think that's unlikely. Keep an eagle eye on that temperature gauge! -

Sorry if that original response sounded reactionary - it was not meant that way at all, but I see how it could be interpreted that way.... My apologies... I would highly recommend getting a vacuum system and using that - keep in mind that if you vacuum a system that is nominally full of coolant... -

So you de-pressurized the system when it was HOT ?? Did you drive it after that? DO NOT DRIVE IT! By relieving the pressure when it was hot you boiled off coolant inside the system. There are now air pockets in the system. When we work on these vehicles there are specific bleed protocols...
