    Trunk not opening

    I have owned mine since new, and it has only ever unlatched and popped open an inch or so. It has never fully opened after just hitting the button.

    Avslash's Sleeping Platform - A Few More Pics Added

    Well, I just realized I forgot one of the more important aspects to mention. The rear load floor of these trucks is not level relative to the rest of the interior. It has a slight downward slope of about 1" from the forwardmost point of the cargo area to tailgate. If you want your platform to...

    Look here. PerkJ's revised design is exactly what I used for the rear platform. https://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/threads/my-lr3-lightweight-storage-platform-build-updated-actual-dimensions-on-pg-4.127843/page-4 Look here for the tubing...

    It is the ARB 50L, IIRC. Mounting was no issued. I bought the ARB tie-down kit and secured it through the seat mounting bolts. No issues at all. You will need to wire to a power source that doesn't deactivate when the truck goes to sleep, though.

    A few rambling thoughts on it, now that I have a minute or two. I too looked at all the off-the-shelf options I could find. Frontrunner, Drifta, etc. I was turned off by the fact they all seemed heavy as hell (125 pounds or more) and the fact that you are essentially married to the thing once...

    Low coolant. No leak?

    Agree that it sounds like it is almost certainly the crossover pipe. Do a search here and you will see that they are very prone to issues. IMO, they should be considered a wear item and replaced on a schedule of roughly every 50K miles regardless of whether their is a current issue or not. It...

    Avslash's Sleeping Platform - A Few More Pics Added

    No way in hell :) It was a science project from beginning to end. if anyone is interested in doing one though, I'll be happy to share my lessons learned and what changes I would make if doing it again from scratch. I am pretty happy overall with how it turned out.

    Avslash's Sleeping Platform - A Few More Pics Added

    Here we go for those interested. Going to post a few pictures of the finished (mostly) product, and then will fill in some relevant details as time allows. Firstly, all credit for the rear platform goes to user Porkj from Expoportal who was kind enough to work out the original dimensions and...

    Spacers. Yes or No? If yes, then how?

    I ran 275/65s for years with factory 18s/spacer and then Compos without spacer. I don't think there is a combination you can run that won't rub without cutting the horns.

    Cloud of Smoke

    yes it does if that is oil smoke. Valve cover leaking oil into intake maybe?

    Cloud of Smoke

    That looks like coolant smoke to me. Very generally, white smoke is coolant, bluish smoke is oil, and black is fuel. Yours looks white to me. I would be looking hard for a cracked head or blown head gasket. Maybe add some UV dye to your coolant and look around with a black light. ETA: The...

    LR4 -> Defender anyone?

    Good find. I hadn't ventured over there to look for it. I could have sworn he mentioned somewhere that it needed to be aligned, but it has admittedly been several years and many beers, so I could be wrong. I do remember wanting to throttle the stupid SOB who was driving it.

    LR4 -> Defender anyone?

    That LR4 belonged to the owner of Expo Portal, and he commented on the damage from that jump. It was actually very minimal, the truck took it like a champ. IIRC, he had to replace some of the plastic clips that secure the fender flares and get an alignment, and that was it. I agree those Top...

    1800 mile 5 desert solo trip

    Any mods related to sleeping in the back, or did you just unload and bed down with everything folded flat. Just curious. My self-constructed sleeping platform is at the upholsterer right now getting its finishing layer of marine grade carpet. Mine turned into a science project to get all the...

    Audio: Stereo vs. Logic 7

    Can't hear anything over my tinnitus anyway. Damn Don Dokken to hell from back in the day....:rock: FWIW, I prefer it with the Logic7 turned on.

    Check Engine, DTC Codes and Diagnostic scanner for LR4

    Track down what the codes mean. Something as simple as a leaky gas cap can illuminate the check engine light. The 2 items that seem most commonly cited for a CEL here are the gas cap and/or a leaky/defective DTML pump. Could be a myriad of other things, though. You have to research the codes.

    Spacers. Yes or No? If yes, then how?

    Isn't TR primarily looking for a differential in rotational speed between wheels to make its adjustments (i.e. wheel slippage)? I'm not a guru, but I wouldn't expect any TR implications from that configuration. Same rationale by which the TR doesn't throw a fit when adding a front locker...

    Latest recommendations for front bumpers?

    I am pleased with them. I went with them on the recommendation of a local shop. I too was looking at the ARB lights, and heaven knows I have spent all kinds of $$$ on this truck, but the cost/value just seemed out of whack on the ARB lights. Anecdotally, I can read a newspaper from at least a...

    Latest recommendations for front bumpers?

    First picture shows how I had to lengthen the cutout to accommodate the winch clutch lever, as well as the notch cut out of the grill. I wish in retrospect that I had angled the corners of the grille cutout. You can only see them from one angle, but if I had angled the corners, it would be...
