Thumping when Reversing after car has been parked overnight
Mine does it too. I'm thinking a thin coating of surface rust on the rotors or maybe the parking brake shoes may be the cause. -

Probably a sticking or seized brake caliper. I had to replace one of my rear calipers since it was so rusted and sticking. -

The one that I just ordered from Lucky8 is part # LR091107. Still in transit. Atlantic British was out of LR4 alternators on Monday but it looks like they are back in stock. They list it as part # LR065246 https://www.roverparts.com/electrical/alternators/LR065246/ -

How to turn on sound when locking doors?
Look at the LR4 for flashing lights to confirm the locking. In warm weather you can listen for the squeaking sound of the mirrors folding in to know it's locked. -

HD vs non-HD package LR4
For mine it was a sound like birds chirping coming from the rear diff for a few seconds after you turn off the vehicle. Turned out to be the sound of the locking rear diff solenoid failing. By catching it early the rear diff was not damaged. -

2020 defender off road pack - rear locker
I'm guessing you have a 2020. For the 2021 model year, the "build" function on the LR website is incorrect. On the 2021 factory order system, you need to order the offroad pack to get active locking differentials. (And of course the advanced offroad capability pack to get terrain response 2)...- PaulLR3

Totally agree, I've got a set of those 20" split 10 spokes too...total PITA to clean. I wrap a rag around a paint mixing stick to clean between the tight spokes. -

7-spoke 19" HSE-LUX wheels are one of my favorites. We have 2 sets. As noted, easy to clean. Only better pattern may have been the 19" 6-spoke LR3 HSE wheels. -

HD vs non-HD package LR4
We have two 2013 LR4's, one with a rear locker and one without. I can't tell the difference in deep snow or soft sand...neither gets stuck. However, I always use low gear in soft sand to maintain momentum. (All 2013's came with the 2-speed transfer case) -

Apparently my LR4 is really upset about it's upcoming roommate
I'm driving my LR4 about an hour from home and I see an incoming call from my salesperson at the LR dealer. I answer the call over Bluetooth and learn that my new Defender has arrived a month early. Apparently the LR4 heard the conversation as about 10 minutes later I see the angry red battery... -

I was told that dropping the headliner is rather difficult. My roof antenna was leaking and they had to drop the headliner to replace it. It is fabric affixed to a thin shell that is very fragile. Very easy to crack it if not supported my multiple people. Plus many of the clips break off and... -

High Pitched Squeal
My guess would be the A-pillar trim. After having a new windshield installed mine would get loud over 60 mph. Despite using new trim clips, it would still screech. Only solution was to buy a new A-pillar trim piece that fit nice & snug. No more noise at any high speed. -

Is the location of the plate in the rear of the LR4 legal in CO?
LR4 has been around too long to enforce that law on an LR4. But the D5 could certainly benefit from that "at the approximate center of the vehicle" law. -

I can't believe LR even puts their name on a Discovery Sport. I agree...on par with any Kia airport rental. I got a Velar loaner, which is a really nice car, especially in dynamic mode. Totally underrated and is an actual competitor to a base 5-series or A6. -

Yes, they should be able to pull a complete history of LR dealer maintenance at any LR dealership. If shopping for a higher mileage LR4, maintenance history is very important. However, be aware that if it was just dealer maintained, they probably changed the oil every 15,000 miles as... -

What causes the rear tires to look tilted?
Noticed a slight tilt in my rear wheels when parked and a banging noise over bumps. Just confirmed that after 128,000 miles my upper rear control arm bushings are done. Atlantic British has their version of this part for $138 per side if anyone else needs to replace theirs... -

Dealer has some sort of device that can check each parking sensor to see if it is working to pinpoint the problem.
