Recovery: D-Rings or soft shackles?

Silly windshield wiper question.
Last time we had some snow, I tried to lift the wipers off the wind screen to keep from icing up. I quickly found out that they wouldn't lift that far and lock into place. Is this normal? Am I doing something wrong? Every other vehicle I've owned, I could just pull them back and they would... -

Do LR3 lug nuts have a cap on them?
My lug nuts, most of them, have a little bit of slop/movement to them. I know some lugnuts have a cap of sorts. I'm hoping that's the case here -

Are OEM running boards the same for LR3 and LR4?

Looking at a few CPO cars, a few questions on what to look for.
Looking at a couple of CPO cars in the 20-30k mileage range, 2012s. First, how often should we expect to have to change brake pads? I saw on one of the CPO cars they changed pads around 14k miles? Also, both of these cars had the battery replaced one at 14k, the other at 8.9k... seems unusual... -
