The SM relay is located in the right hand side fuse/relay box under the bonnet. Relay number 18. By the way my problem ended up being the actual starter motor. Have since replaced it (not too hard a job to DIY) and problem solved. -

Hey all Was changing the seals in the front air suspension block the other day and came across this just hanging behind the passenger side wheel trim. Wasn't mounted to anything.. just sitting there. Any ideas what it is (temp sensor of some sort maybe?) and where it normally lives? Looks like... -

Changing Starter Motor on LR4
Had a look around the web and cannot locate anything specific to changing the starter motor on a 2012 LR4 (5.0). Found a few youtube clips on Range Rovers and LR3's but not the LR4. Anyone done this themselves and if so, any tips? Cheers -

Thanks for checking rolledover. Much appreciated. Updated the BMS to match the H8 and did not resolve the issue. Seems the starter motor is the guilty party! I'm reasonably ok on the tools but lack of a garage and the likelihood of the Houston humidity turning me into a pool of salted jello... -

Talked to a local mechanic in the know and he said that the BMS needs to be reset to recognize the change of battery type. Heading there tomorrow... shall see if this solves my starting issues. Wish me luck! -

Thanks TrinidadLR4. When you reset the Battery Setting was there an option to specifically select AGM-H8? Reason I ask is the LR tech said he reset the BMS but it doesn't specify the type of battery to that detail. He said he just reset it so it could re-learn??? -
